Mulan admits that she went to war to prove herself and do something right, and it wasn't just for her father. Belle clearly sacrificed her freedom purely for her father. And if you ask me, being willing to spend the rest of your life in a cold, dingy dungeon is just as brave as going to war for your father. Belle defends Maurice countless times in the film.
