These are not all my personal opinions. Just stuff I've picked up from other people.

But this one DOES annoy me to no end. I don't think Belle does anything to prove that she is particularly smart- in fact, she makes some stupid decisions.

I also don't get this point-when people call Ariel stupid for going into Ursula's lair when she was told not to. How about when Belle goes into the West Wing when she was told not to? That was pretty stupid. How come it's curiousity when Belle does it, but stupidity when Ariel does the same thing?

^True, I do think Belle is smart, at least she is meant to be , she just hides it well. And about Snow White doesn't have personality: Watch movie again!

I they are all smart- in their own way. I think people assume Belle is smart just b/c she likes to read, and that's not necessarily true.

Belle is just book smart, not really street smart. Like in the smartest princess countdown Belle was proven not to be the smartest.

And I must say that this really bothers me. Yes they're old but that doesn't mean they're not awesome. It also makes me mad that people say that Aurora doesn't have a personality

Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't think Belle is smartest, but I'm fine with people who do, but some people can get so aggressive about her not being. I've seen people be very rude to those who think she's smartest, and it's a valid opinion. Belle seems fairly bright in her movie, and though I think it's wrong to assume anyone who reads a lot is smart, I also think it's fair to take her reading into account. A naturally bright person reading many books would enhance their intellect. People say she only reads fairy tales, but it's not true. Just because her favourite book happens to be a fairy tale that doesn't mean that's all she reads, she has read every book in her town, it's very unlikely they are all fairy tales.
About her being stupid/curious, I think there's a difference between being smart and being savvy. She's not very savvy, but that isn't the same as intellect, so doesn't mean she lacks it.
She's an inventor's daughter, who seems bright and is well read (not proof of intellect, but something that can expand it for some) so while I personally agree there are smarter princesses, I do wish people would be less derisive of those who think she's smartest. I've seen people not attacked for thinking much ditzier princesses are smarter, I don't know why Belle seems to be the only one it's taboo to call smartest.
(I'm not saying that's what's happening here, or accusing anyone of rudeness, but it is something I've seen a lot of in the past)

With most of these though, while I disagree they don't annoy me unless the person with that opinion is rude when expressing it.

Yeah cromulanfav, that's not great, nor are the people who pick Belle on things like that just because they like her most, which as much as they all deny doing it, I'm sure I've seen a lot of too :)

Edit: just wanted to say, the option I added wasn't aimed at anyone picking the option about those who call Belle smart just because she reads. If the only thing someone bases thinking she's smart on is just reading I see why that would annoy. My add was aimed just at those who are derisive of all who find Belle smartest, even those who back it up with other reasons :)

To be honest I dont like polls like this. I dont mean any offence, but all they do is create arguments. Why should someone thinking Belle is the smartest make you angry? I dont get it. If they think that, then so what?

You have no idea how much that frustrates me when I see others betlitting people just because they think Belle is the smartest. I mean, whenever that question is asked ("which Princess is the smartest") and someone votes for Belle, people always object to it. Does it really matter?? Theres obviously gonna be people in this world who think Belle is the smartest, its inevitable.

I dont think Belle is the smartest. I personally think Pocahontas is, but if someone thinks that Belle is, well then why should it matter to you? Its like saying they cant have an opinion.

Again, the only thing that annoys me (out of these options) is the question itself. I hate it when questions like this pop up because it creates tension and to be honest it makes me feel really paranoid. It makes me not want want to express my opinion in future polls because they have been negatively portrayed here.

Eh, I like questions like these. I like the debate and fun they spark. It's interesting and fun. If you don't like it, just don't participate in it.

Its not that I dont like it, its that I dont like the tension that it creates. It honestly makes me not want to vote in future polls (that are related to these specific options) because I dont want my opinion to be heard if it makes people "angry" .. it makes me paranoid about expressing my opinion.

It is pitiful that someone makes angry another only because he or she believes in something (well, even if it's not strong belief, because sometimes fans here are just children, they only can learn how to believe and prove and explain their thoughts), well when believes in something you don't believe in.
We are here to have different opinions! Well, it means that every time I picked Belle (and as the smartest too, BTW) you, guys, were angry??? I'm afraid now to write here about my opinion. Moreover I admit that I can't always explain it clearly. So then you all will be angrier!?

she's not stupid or selfish Snow White's voice is not annoying she has personality and Snow White Cinderella and Aurora are not too old fashion to be liked and Jasmine is not that b word she's just spunky what also bug me is someone calling them ugly I will go off on you if you call them ugly

Ariel isn't selfish! She's a teenager! She may be a bit irresponsible at times, but really, take her age into account before calling her selfish.

Anyways, I really hate it when people say Belle is smart BECAUSE SHE READS BOOKS. As long as you have more reason than that, then your opinion is your opinion, and I have no right to interfere. But reading books doesn't automatically make you a smart person.

Also, Jasmine isn't a bitch, and Ariel isn't stupid. Again, she's irresponsible, not stupid/selfish.

It makes me more mad that Mulan doesn't speak Chinese in her movie, but she does say, "Ni-Hao" and "Xie-Xie" on the website

I'm sorry but teenagers for the most part ARE self-absorbed which is just a fancy way of saying selfish. I know most of you on this site hate hearing that because a lot of you are teenagers but it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a perfectly normal stage in adolescents. Just don't try to pretend like Ariel wasn't putting her frivolous desires and safety before that of her family. She was. Her creator Hans Christian Anderson even describes her as a selfish character. The story requires her to be as such even though in the original story she dies for the prince. However, there was a scene cut from the end of the Disney version which showed how Ariel has matured. Right before Triton turns Ariel back into a human they were supposed to have a few lines together where Ariel says she's ready to go home but wants a few moments alone to look at Eric. Then the conversation between Triton and Sebastian starts.



As for Belle being smart, it's a legitimate opinion. But I've known plenty of Harry Potter or Twilight fans who weren't that bright. So as long as you don't solely base it on the fact that she reads books.

I mean really, all these opinions/statements are valid to different types of people. If you don't agree with them, get over yourself.

^ Aurora's personality is not the same as Snow White's. Her personality is much more mature and subtle then Snow White's. Snow White is more outgoing and sweet. That's what I think anyway.

Personally, I think everybody has a personality, some are just more boring then others.

They're all degrading! I love each and every princess, and anyone who wishes to insult any of them in such a manner is definitely at fault because every one of these accusations are false.

Although people who say that Ariel is immature have a point - not that this is a bad thing, she is supposed to be a teenager after all.

Belle is smart because she fights with words, not mussles. She certainly is smart - the smartest, no I don't think so, I think that honor goes to Mulan.

But i think belle is smart. The smartest...No...but she is smart. Reading does make you smart. && she loves to read. She knows how to clean a wound. Think on her feet to attempt to save the beast. but yea not the smartest. I think that is Rapunzel.

I think they're all annoying in their own ways, but Belle being treated as the second-coming probably the most. Because she's a great character, yes, but I don't think she's the be-all-end-all of female characters. I think that was one of the few things that bugged me about CodedLockFilms' review of the ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS -- it was a great review, but putting down all the other Disney princesses like that...TBF, it was more to make a point about how badly THE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS derailed Belle's character (I mean, seriously, I'm not going to deny it; that was some pretty horrific Character Derailment she went through, IMHO), but still...dude, they're all great characters. Lay off, will you?

Also, KataraLover? I don't think that Ariel's selfish either. Slightly lacking in common sense? Yes. Selfish? No. There's kind of a difference here, IMHO.

One, she has my favorite voice of ALL TIME <3 <3 <3 Two, I respect if you don't like it, but that's not a good reason to have her low. Also when people say Aurora doesn't have a personality. A couple others too, like Jasmine not being rude and Belle being smart just because she reads, but the two that I mentioned before especially.
