since the disney princesses can be seen as role models for little girls I really don't like the idea of them having to be perfect and flawlesss. Not everybody is perfect, and to put the idea into girls' heads that you have to be perfect to be a princess or whatever is actually a harmful way to think

For me "Perfection" is just a word people use to emphasize the qualities a person has or a thing someone has done. Perfection doesn´t exist and I feel that making the DP have flaws makes the kids relate to them more. I agree with BB2010. Thinking of being perfect and flawless can become harmful in many ways.

I don't like the way some people consider role model to mean "flawless" or with "only the flaws of which I personally approve." If you think that way, then feel free to become an animator/creator of your own character. Then you can see if actual people will relate to fictional people who make zero mistakes.

Characters with fewer flaws are less relatable, and often provide people with a very unrealistic sense of superiority.

^And there's people who think that female characters have to perfect while a male character can be flawed no problem. like in my heroine in the lineup countdown there was a comment about how Esmeralda shouldn't be in the countdown because she's a thief (even though we literally never see her steal anything) when meanwhile we have Aladdin and Eugene

^VERY TRUE. See, we claim that characters like Belle "are best" because we don't ever see her do "anything wrong" while characters like Ariel and Merida are the worst because we can't have flawed women.

Meanwhile, we have Beast, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, and DEADPOOL ( all of whom are "Grade A" assholes), and no one makes a fuss.

But women who are flawed? Nope. ALL princesses must BE INCAPABLE of making any mistakes whatsoever. And we only accept flawed women if they are villainesses.

Here's an interestic trivia I found on imdb about Esmeralda (boy I'm just talking about her a lot today! :P )

Esmeralda's decision to marry Phoebus at the end of her film was likely the result of the way both Quasimodo and Frollo treated her throughout the movie, according to the Madonna-Whore complex: Frollo constantly viewed Esmeralda as an evil seductress, causing him to want her as his own and threatens to kill her if she refuses, while Quasimodo instead views her as a pure, angelic being, seeing her as being only kind and caring. However, both portrayals are considered insulting to women, and Phoebus, seeing her as being feisty but good-natured, was the only male character that saw Esmeralda like a normal woman, therefore becoming her husband.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the reasons I love Hunchback of Notre Dame :P

^Esme is my favorite Disney heroine, because she doesn't seem to fall "neatly" into some preconceived "heroine role model" category.

People hate her because they have trouble "placing her" in a neat little box.

I, personally, gravitate and love characters people can't shove a label onto and easily decide they're "good or bad."

But then, I was always more fond of Kida, Jane, Meg, and Esme ( who never fit the princess profile), than I was of Tiana, Belle, and Rapunzel. I remain fond of Mulan and Ariel and parts of Merida, because they are more like Esme, Kida, Jane, and Meg. They are flawed, but they grow up and realize that the world doesn't revolve around just them.

To be the part of line-up? No.
To be my favorite? Yes, I prefer heroines who are even-tempered, well-mannered and not sexualised. Like Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Anna, Giselle. Not like Esmeralda, Jasmine, Meg or Chel( she isn't Disney), I know.

However, I really dislike and often critize Beast, Shang, trio from Mulan, Tulio and Fergus as well.

^^Agreed. This mentality that women who are "sexualized" is really disturbing. What do you mean by sexualized? Do you mean women who enjoy sex or are flirtatious? Or do you mean sexualized as in men only see them as valued for their physical beauty and clothes for sexual thrill? Because both are two very different things.
