I'm trying to be excited...I'm really trying! I did like the Polynesian music, and the gorgeous screenshots that were released from the D23 Expo. I'm also liking the fact that Moana is another POC after four Caucasian princesses. Moana does not have a Barbie doll waist size, nor does she look like Bratz dolls--- which Elsa and Anna most certainly do look like.

It's 2015... are people still that confused and offended by SISTERS looking alike? lol. Not that there's anything evil about that anyway. Moana still has the standard Disney design (skinny, big round eyes, big smile, youthful heart shaped face, long hair), as do Tiana (a Belle "clone") and Jasmine. Funny how only the white heroines get hate for it though (which is odd, you'd think people would love those lame white girls being less unique than the nonwhites, but whatever). Can we also please stop pretending skinny girls are offensive and that we don't already have variety in the DPs' body types?

anyway... I'm just hoping she isn't a cliche princess. so far she sounds kind of like a typical rebellious princess with cute animal sidekicks. I'm curious about the guy though- I can't guess what age he is and if he's going to be a love interest or not, but I'm guessing not, he looks several years older than her and given how much Disney has this weird love/hate relationship with romance and how only two girls so far haven't had a love interest, I'm guessing she won't.

The guy in the picture with Moana is the chief, so is more likely to be her father. I've discussed this more in an article if you want to read it on this site.

^Nobody is ripping on frozen. Literally no one. Somebody just said Anna and Elsa look like Bratz dolls and are unrealistic. That does not necessarily have to be viewed as negative - simply they have big eyes and are cartoon characters.

Nobody on tumblr is pissed off about Moana. They are all super excited about representation and a more realistic body standard. Diversity is the spice of life.

and you are definitely wrong. i've seen several posts in my tumblr dash complaining about both this and coco for various reasons -- coco because they're worried it's a book of life ripoff, and moana because they think she's being samefaced, etc.

I'm going to stay positive on this one for once, but I won't expect The next Prince of Egypt.

I absolutely can't wait for this movie. I love these final renders, and the concept art is just breathtaking.

Definitely, if the final film is anything like this stunning concept art. I also really like Moana's design, although I am tired of the "sassy" poses Disney CGI heroines are always sporting in concept art. It's nice to get some more realistic body types and diversity.

I love it, I just say something like saying we should be open to more representation and not be so two-faced in our actions, and instead of offering a good reply or why you disagree with this idea you just type like somebody throwing a temper tantrum.
