disney princesas Does it bother you that Grandpappy says "Fear will be your enemy" and then Elsa's parents teach her to fear her powers?

Nails on a chalkboard. I already saw the whole movie plotline right after the trolls gave their ludicrous advice. There was little point in watching the rest... but I did. I hoped it would get better...but it only got worse and worse. Sigh.

I don't even see why that line was included if the parents are just going to teach her otherwise. It makes no sense, it's as if the makers of Frozen wanted to portray the parents as idiots who couldn't listen...

This, but the more I think about, the more I realize her parents must be clueless. xD

I don't really think it was intentional on their part but regardless her parents bother me a lot.

Stupid parents. It's just irritating that all the trouble could have been so easily avoided.

I think her father meant to not act as if she has ice powers and try to forget them, and just don't show them, but she interpreted as don't feel anything so your emotions won't make her ice powers act up.

Seemed as though life was actually pretty good for Elsa before the accident and then all of a sudden she couldn't control them.

no.

the movie was obviously setting up an aesop about fear, and in order to do that they needed to show how it goes wrong. this movie admittedly sucks, but there's actually some interesting subtext here about how our parents can fuck us up even when they mean well.
