I like it a lot, but I think I can kind of see why they decided to cut it. Or at least, I see it as it would have been yet another Part of That World, Belle (Reprise), and Just Around the River Bend. It would have been yet another adolescent girl that isn't satisfied with her life and loudly and passionately singing about what she wants instead, and then getting it by the end of the film. Those things were really done to death by that point.

Having a girl who is more quiet, introverted, dissatisfied with her inability to fit in but doesn't know how to fix it, and wants to bring her family pride but doesn't know how, and discovers the answer over the film, is much more fresh in my opinion.

One of my favourite thing about Mulan is that she is not a tomboy by any means. But adding the full song would have made her one. Plus, I prefer the more thoughtful tone of the shorter version. It makes the song more universal and relatable.

I like the original one. It's more unique and less generic when compared to other "i want" songs.

Honestly the only song I was ever sad they cut was Proud of your Boy, in general Disney's deleted stuff tends to be pretty underwhelming so I understand most of the times why they cut it.

^Proud of Your Boy is my favorite deleted song. I would melt if someone (even if it was just a fan) animated it.
Anyway, I understand why it got cut, but I still wish they left it extended. Sure, the lyrics are a bit cliche.
The visuals would look amazing.

I've always liked the full version. Actually every time Lea Salonga sings Reflection she sings the extended version, so do I.

There are some gems between the deleted songs..."Proud of your boy", "never smile like a crocodile", "Beautiful briny sea" (which was later used for another movie, but started out as a deleted song)....and I still think that the love song they originally wrote would have fit Frozen better than "Love is an open door".
