Most folk tales are based on a grain of truth. It's very possible King Arthur was real too, even if the real king did not have an actual wizard who got a magic sword from a lady of the lake which he placed in a magic stone. I'm sure there was a woman (or women?) whom the stories of Hua Mulan is based on. =)

Yeah, Quasimodo was actually based off someone who worked at Notre Dame cleaning windows. So Quasimodo, technically did exist. So maybe Mulan was real, in a sense. Unfortunately, we don't have actual proof of her being a real person like we do Pocahontas, Anastasia, and Balto.

I knew that she might be real but I'm still not sure. There have been many women warriors in China so she definitely could have been real. I sometimes saw a document of real Mulan and there were presented some woman warrior she'd be based on but her name wasn't Mulan. So I suppose the woman warrior character she's based is real but I don't think there were really real life character named Hua Mulan.
