I wish I were making some of these up, but they are all real things that C.A.T users have found playing the Twilight merchandise game in the forums. Some of them are made by companies not affiliated with the official Twilight people. I haven't even added all of them, just a few of the ones I found weirdest. These are just scratching the surface, lol.
I know a board game might not seem too weird, but think about the plot of the book. How on earth do you make a board game out of it? "you rolled a three, congratulations, Edward is now stalking you, move forward three spaces" "Oops, you told Edward that sparkling is gay, it not only offended him but it's an old played out joke, miss next turn" "You enrolled in collage, go back to square one" "congratulations, you abandoned your dreams and family and are now living for eternity with your stalker and your spine breaking baby, you win (I know that sounds like you lost, but trust us, that's winning in the game of Twilight)"?

I picked the shower curtain because it would freak me out like crazy. I wouldn't be able to shower with that in the room. Also, look where it is, There is no way I'd be able to pee with that thing glaring at me the whole time.

Oh, and we're just talking about merchandise that's come from Twilight, so none of you sarcastic people add the books or the movie themselves.

The jokes about this one just write themselves. It is insane that someone was sat thinking 'gee, Twilight's a big deal right now, I want in on that cashcow, but hmmm, what product could my company make that would make most sense?' and this is what they settled on.

I'm torn between the body glitter and the tampon holder.

'Cause I can't imagine a Twilight board game basing off the book like there is about The Lord of the Rings and the HObbit because Twilight has no game-potential plot.

it's so beyond insane all the stupid, crazy things that have been made twilight. shower curtains? how could anyone shower? the hygeine products? come on! that's just beyond rediculous! I'd never recover if I had to use those. the liquor flask? who's gunna use that? seriously, they're all ridiculous.

I don't think most of those products are that crazy, I'm already used to see that everytime there's a succesful movie or book series they take products that already exist and add them an image to transform them into "official merchandise". At the end I was between the body glitter and the tampon holder, but at least the tampon holder isn't something you can go around showing. I know that body glitter already exists, but Twilight body glitter means many things, including:
- You expect the body glitter to make you look like a sparklepire (and probably, you want to be a sparklepire).
- Your don't think sparklepires are something to laugh at.
- You think sparkling skin is attractive.

I didn't even know that some of these freaking existed. I'm now scarred for life. A tampon holder? Pads? A shower curtain?

Twilight isn't the only thing marketed on merchandise. You can find this stuff with anything on them.

@youknowit101, the question wasn't intended to imply Twilight is the only fanbase with crazy products. In fact, more than one thing I'm a fan of has some pretty odd merchandise, though I will say I've never been personally aware of anything like personal feminine products associated with my fanbases (though in fairness I should point out I've never looked for any). It's because this is a twilight centric spot it's the only fanbase whose weird merchandise was mentioned, and during the height of the fad it was prone to being plastered on more products than less exposed brands.

This pick was a response to a forum game where we were light heartedly looking for odd merchandise (after a string of extremely odd ones were seen, such as a shower curtain) just for fun. If it was a remark on anything it was people, not fans, trying to mindlessly cash in on the series with any product they could think of. There were fans playing to, it wasn't some 'aren't Twilight fans out buying weird things' attitude, and I'm sure any member of a large fanbase will be aware most can be found linked to odd products.

Thanks for the information, but that was my way of saying none of it is "crazy/stupid". Merchandising is never stupid.

@youknowit101, sorry, I misunderstood because what you said expressed that other fanbases have merchandise of this kind too, and didn't actually mention your opinion of the merchandise itself, and I didn't want anyone to have the impression this was intended to imply Twilight was in general a uniquely weird fanbase (though again, I do feel due to the extreme fad it found itself on a wide, often odd range of products beyond the norm)

On whether or not it is possible for merchandise to be crazy or stupid I guess we just see it differently. I think some of these are downright wacky. Technically if someone made more money than they spent to create a product you can say it was smart to make it, but it's just a lighthearted pick looking at the more out there products (and "which of these products that were probably a sound decision to make in terms of profit, but could be considered a strange thing to wish to own or connect with a teenage vampire book series do you personally consider the most entertainingly odd" wouldn't exactly be a snappy question, and probably wouldn't have fit). I did include an option for people who thought none of them were crazy to pick, and put the allow fans to add option on, so people who didn't find the idea of any of it strange had options too :)
