Colin Firth Exits \'Paddington,\' Calls It a \'Conscious Uncoupling\'

and – to use Gwyneth Paltrow‘s famous term – is calling his exit a “conscious uncoupling” after realizing that his voice doesn’t match up with the lovable bear.

“It’s been bittersweet to see this delightful creature take shape and come to the sad realization that he simply doesn’t have my voice,” Colin told Empire Online. “After a period of denial we’ve chosen conscious uncoupling. I’ve had the joy of seeing most of the film and it’s going to be quite wonderful. I still feel rather protective of this bear and I’m pestering them all with suggestions for finding a voice worthy of him.”

The movie looks great and adorable and I love Colin’s sense of humor. Benedict would be great for this, he could do anything!

Such a shame as I love Colin Firth. To hear him portray the bear with equally fabulous costars Kidman, Hawkins, and Bonneville would have been a delight.

I think Tom Mison or Darren Boyd would be good recasts.
