Apologies and captives…
“Ahhhhhhh….” he screamed. “Hey,” I said “I never caught your name.” “It’s Aundre!” He called up to me. “What’s your name?” “It’s Ashtaroth.” I said. Just then we made a steep dip, Aundre screamed. “Calm down and be quiet!!” I said forcefully. “I’m afraid of heights!” he yelled “What!?!” I said “You begged and begged me to let you come and now you tell me you’re afraid of heights!” “What!?! You kidnapped me! ” He cried out furiously “Why did you make me come anyway?!?” He screamed. I thought quickly “In the country I’m from you-- they strongly believe in-- no one can know about my mission- I have to bring someone-- I need help---” I struggled to come up with a reason. “What country are you from, and what mission!?!” He cried. “I will ask the perguntas here-- don’t make me drop you!” I threatened. “You wouldn’t….” He teased. I let go of him he fell and flipped and turned… “Apologize!” I yelled maliciously. “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry--” He screamed. I grinned smugly and then grabbed him out of the air, flying up higher. “I knew you wouldn’t kill me…” He said still shaking “You want me to drop you again?” I asked grinning. “NO!!” He screamed. I cracked up laughing. We landed in Harkaimia that night….
“Where should we sleep?” I asked “How about a hotel?” said Aundre “What’s that?” I asked him. “What?!?” He asked in shock. “What country are you from anyway?” He asked “Umm-- how about on those cliffs over there!” I exclaimed desperate to find a way to slither out answering the question. “Race ya’” I called behind me. I ran spread my wings and jumped into the wind. I glided over to the cliffs making sure he could keep up. When we go to the climbing part, I pomba down and snatched him up and carried him to the cliff peak. We landed on the cliff, the moment he hit the ground he fell flat on his back, while I landed gracefully beside him. “Oww!” he said rubbing the back of his head. “Where do you want to sleep?” I asked completely ignoring his last comment. “Wherever it’s safe….” he said looking around cautiously. “How about the topo, início of that tree--” “No where that we have to fly to.” he interrupted quickly. “Well,” I said smugly “I’m going to sleep in that tree, you can just hang out down here all night, with all of the bears and tigers…” I teased, and then in one leap, I sprang gracefully into the tree. “Good niigght!!” I called tauntingly.
5 minutos later…..
“Let-me-up-let-me-up-let-me-up-let-me-up--” he called banging on the árvore trunk. “I thought you could handle it.” I joked. “This is not funny!” He yelled ferociously, glancing behind him. I rolled over on my stomach and put my chin in my hands to watch. “It’s pretty funny…” I mused. “Please-please-please-please-pleas--” He called up terrified. “Fine,” I said “but, only because you are pathetically begging…” I teased. I put my hand down, he grabbed on and I easily hoisted him into the tree. “Thank you…” he said sighing in relief. I laughed my evil laugh. “How did you do that?” He asked curiously. “I’m tired.” I said quickly not answering Aundre’s question. I walked over to a nice looking branch and lay with my hands on my head looking at home. Aundre stared at me for who knows how long. “What?” I asked. “You don’t like to tell anyone anything about yourself, do you….” he said. “I like my secrets.” I told him simply. “Are they that good that they are worth keeping?” he asked. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” I said smugly. “Let’s get some sleep.” I said. “But, I have so many quest--” “No questions.” I interrupted, “Not tonight….” I said sleepily. “Tomorrow?” he asked “Good night, Aundre.” I said avoiding the question.
They seguinte morning I woke up right before dawn, and I sat on the edge of my branch to watch the sunrise. “Good morning.” said the sun. “Good morning!” I called. Light was everywhere, it cast long misty morning shadows. This woke Aundre up. “Morning!” I said, easily leaping across the 15 foot gap between us and landing gracefully seguinte to him. He rubbed his eyes. “What’s for breakfast?” he asked. “I already went hunting,” I said “but I guess you need to eat too.” I told him. I took him por the arm and fell softly to the ground, yet, once again, he fell flat on his back. “Whoops….” I teased. “Oww!” he said. I ignored him. “So what do you feel like having?” I asked. “Ham, chicken, sausage, bacon, Owl……” I trailed off. He looked at me, “Owl?” he quizzed. “You had Owl??” “It was really good!” I said. “Where did you cook it?” he questioned surveying me. “Who said I cooked it?” I asked, picking a feather off of my tongue. “Nice….” said Aundre. “I might skip breakfast….” “Suit yourself.” I shrugged. “We better get going.” I said. I grabbed his arm and away we flew.
“Can I ask you perguntas now?” he whined for the 27th time. “Fine.” I gave in. “What are you?” he asked “An angel, seguinte question.” I said. I wanted to get this over with. “That’s it?” he said. “I would have expected wizard, monster, half bird…..” “How about…. A shooting star?” I asked knowingly. “What?” he asked. “What would give you that idea-- You’re a star?” “Was.” I corrected him. “What happened?” He asked. “Specific perguntas only.” I said sternly. “What is your real name?” he asked. “Unukalhai, seguinte question” I said. “How old are you?” he asked. “I’m not sure, around ten thousand I guess, seguinte question.” I said. “How did you get to earth?” he asked. “I was a shooting star. seguinte question.” I said. “What is your mission?” he asked. “Why do you care?” I asked dangerously. “If I’m going to help you,” he said, “I need to know what I am helping you do.” “Fair enough,” I said, “I must make peace on Earth and stop you Earth stars from destroying everything.” I said severely. “No mais questions, I don’t want you to ask me any mais questions.” “But--” he said. “No questions.” I replied harshly. “Alright…..” He said sadly. We flew in silence for the rest of the trip.
We landed in Marazuma. “Let’s go find somewhere to stay.” I said. “How about in a cardboard box on the side of the road.” he said glumly, he was still upset with how I turned him off of asking me questions. “No.” I said, I could never cheer anyone up, I was too cold hearted. “How about on topo, início of that building?” I asked trying to lighten my mood. “Sure, whatever…” he said pitifully. Now I actually felt bad, he wouldn’t be nearly as fun to bully. I took him por the arm, spread my wings, and flew to the topo, início of the tallest building.
That night we had been laying side por side in silence. I took a deep breathe, “I’m sorry.” I said. I never apologize I didn’t know why I was doing it to him. Though part of the reason may be because I liked company, and I wasn’t about to drive him away. My apology took him off guard, and to be honest, I was surprised por the sincerity and truth of the words, I was sorry. “What?” he asked, “I said I’m sorry.” I repeated. “Really?” He looked at me surprised. I nodded, “I didn’t expect that, not from you.” said Aundre. “Well, I am.” I said sincerely. “I thought you hated Me.” he said. “Nah.” I said shaking my head. “I just like to bully you is all, nothing personal, I’m just like that.” “Are you this bad and rearranged to everyone?” he asked. “Who knows.” I shrugged, “Let’s get some sleep.” I said closing my eyes.
The seguinte morning I woke up, “Good morning.” said the sun. “Good morning.” I said. Sunlight made everything have long shadows. I thought it over, and decided that it was good I apologized. I know it’s the right thing to do but… I’ve just never been able to do it. I guess It’s best if you just get it over with.
“Morning.” he said. “Morning.” I replied. “Ready to fly?” I asked. “Sure.” he replied. I spread my wings and I stood on the edge of the building, he stepped up with me, and I took his arm. I jumped and we soared into the air. I always loved the rush of cool air you get when you first took off. “Can I ask you a question?” he asked me. “That depends on what it is…” I said suspiciously. “How many days do we have to complete the mission?” he asked. “Twenty-nine.” I said.
He looked at me, “That’s it?!?” “That‘s it.” I answered. We didn’t talk much this time, I was mostly thinking. There was one part of my mission that I didn’t quite understand, but-- no, no, it couldn’t mean… could it? I saw land, “That spot looks good” I said. We landed on a sky scraper to take a break. Why? Well, we couldn’t very well land in the middle of a populated area. I can see the headlines now, ‘ANGEL SWOOPS IN CARRYING TEENAGE CAPTIVE’. We saw a flash of light. It caught the attention of both of us. It began to drizzle, then rain, then pour. There were flashes of light from every direction and the loud rumble of thunder.
*CRACK*
Lightning hit the topo, início of the building, it startled Aundre so much that he slipped and fell off a twenty story building. I pomba after him spreading my wings it was ten times harder to fly than usual, my wings were wet and heavy, the rain blurred my sight, and I was startled por sudden flashes of lightning. It was like I just couldn’t go fast enough. Aundre was just a few feet from the ground,
*ZIP*
I went faster than the lightning. I snatched Aundre, inches before he hit the ground. I pulled him por the arm until we reached the nearest apartment balcony with a roof. We sat together we were both shaking… That was definitely not your everyday event, I could only hope no one saw us. In fact I recall looking over the edge of the balcony a few times. When I calmed down enough I looked at him “Are you okay?” I asked. “Yeah, you?” he replied. “Fine.” I said. “Wow,” I said, “That was scary.” “Huh, no kidding!” He said. I laughed a little, I was still shaken. When the storm was over we left.
