How to cope with a full on phobia?

I have a really severe phobia of medical procedures. When I say I have a phobia, I don't just mean that I cry a bit. I've looked up phobias on google and I have a lot of symptoms of severe phobias. These include nausea, dizziness, fainting and unreasonable anxiety... as well as crying my eyes out. The last time I had a blood test last summer, it turned out pretty badly, for I showed all of the above symptoms. That's the worst medical procedure I've ever had, so it's not like I had a horrible experience at a doctors office or anything. I have to get another blood test in a few weeks to test for potential kidney failure in the future (because the stupid pharmacy people gave me the wrong medicine for the past eight months T_T). What can I do to help not be so horrifically afraid?

(PS: I would just go to a doctor to get it fixed, but that kind of doesn't work because I'm too scared to go to the doctor to have the doctor do a procedure just to show these awful symptoms and get treated, which I have a feeling won't help me much in this particular case O_O)

I use to have something similar to this (obviously not to such an extent, I would just panic and cry) and I eventually got over it. I sat myself down and made a list of what I thought really worried me about going to the doctor (or school nurse, or clinic). I wasn't afraid of bad news, I was only slightly afraid of needles and other things. I finally realized that there was nothing about going there that scared me, it was just going there. So after mentally preparing myself (and scheduling, cancelling, scheduling, cancelling visits), I went to the doctor with my brother who did the 'tough love' thing. He said he wasn't letting me leave. It's still tough for me to go to the doctor, but over the years I think I have gotten better. What I have is commonly referred to as White casaco Syndrome. I don't think you will ever fully get over it (because hospitals suck), but you can eventually learn to deal with it if you try to rationalize what about it scares you. You can control yourself better than you think. (I talked myself out of being scared of spiders). And breathe, just remember to do that so you don't pass out :)
-Don't know if that will be useful but worth a try.

You can talk to a counselor or someone who specialises in phobias about this. Medical procedures are nothing to be afraid of, without them, many lives would be gone. Hope this helps. God Bless.
