She heard a crash, a loud one. She groaned and pulled the covers over her head. But when the computer announced Batman's arrival, she jumped out of cama and into the closet. We didn't have training today. Were we supposed to get a mission? She stepped out of her room, ready for action, like most of the others who had slept in on their dia off. Blade yawned before heading into the mission room. She saw not only Batman, but also Zatanna, and a few other JLA members. Okay. Not a mission.
“Devin's gone missing,” A voice whispered in her ear.
She would have reacted, but she knew that voice too well.
“They tell you that?”
“No. Fang did.”
It was then that Blade noticed a very angry and very worried Fang standing in the shadows. She looked at Terror behind her. He nodded.
“There's fear in there. But it will be gone once Zatanna can locate Devin.”
“What if she can't?”
Terror smirked a little.
“Then he will release Hell.”
They sat around the mountain, waiting while the JLA discussed things. Well, Fang stood in the shadows, but everyone else lounged around. There was no way of knowing where Devin was or who had taken her. It could have been any number of their enemies, mais likely Teague or Amber. They had no real clue of knowing. And Devin hadn't left a clue. So they were stuck waiting.
“It's not Teague,” Dylan suddenly announced.
“What? How do you know?” Silver asked.
“He's too cocky. He would have made sure we saw she was taken.”
“He's right,” Terror said. “This isn't Teague's doing.”
“And I can't see Amber being this sneaky,” Blade added.
The room grew quiet minus the sounds a few playing with various powers or weapons. Fang suddenly spoke up.
“I know where she is.”
“Where?!” Mel asked frantically.
Instead of answering, Fang ran out the door and through the Zeta, wings outspread. A few moved to follow him, but Tara stopped them with a force field.
“Fang knows what he's doing. He would have told us had he needed us.”
She dropped her sheild and walked away. Eventually, the room cleared out. Blade moved to the sofá and Terror followed her. He laid behind her and looked at her.
“They'll be okay.”
“I know. I just...hate missing the action.”
Terror smiled a little.
“You can't save her, Blade. Because Fang won't let you.”
Blade smiled and leaned against him.
“So true.”
