It was called ‘You’re the Worst’: Season 3 on FXX; Stephen Falk Signs no geral, global Deal | Variety
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
FXX is committed to its relationship with “You’re the Worst” and has given a third season order to the dark romantic comedy about dating life in Los Angeles.
The series, which is created and exec produced by “Weeds” alum Stephen Falk and is produced by FX Prods., stars Chris Geere and Aya Cash as the sometimes obnoxious, but also somehow relatable, couple Jimmy and Gretchen. The cast also includes Desmin Borges as Army veteran-turned-improv comedy ace Edgar and Kether Donohue as the dimwitted and vapid, but goodhearted, Lindsay.

The first season, which premiered on FX, received a cult following before moving to FXX for Season 2. In addition to its smart, often raunchy humor, the show has also received praise for conquering more serious issues like PTSD and depression. The second season’s finale airs at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 9. “You’re the Worst” will remain on FXX for Season 3, which will premiere in summer 2016.
“I think romantic comedies were one very specific thing for the people who are the age now that they were selling and writing about,” Falk told
Variety ahead of “You’re the Worst’s” second season premiere. “I think that thing just got played out. I think the Louis Armstrong song over the credits and the Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks of it all are fantastic. I love them, I grew up on them. But I don’t think they resonate with the reality of how messy … [people’s love lives’ are].”

It was also announced that Falk has signed a multi-year overall deal to write, develop and produce television projects for FX Networks and FX Prods.
“Stephen is one of the best new talents in comedy – as funny, thoughtful and original as ‘You’re the Worst’ and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next,” said Nick Grad, who made the announcement with Eric Schrier, his fellow president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “’You’re the Worst,’ already one of the most critically-acclaimed comedies on television, is also one of the most innovative, something Stephen and the cast will continue in the much-deserved third season. The daring turn this season, led by the honest and respectful portrayal of Gretchen’s depression, was a very courageous move for a comedy and another milestone for ‘You’re the Worst.’”
