jehan recognized her.she's clark's cousin in smallville aka SuperGirl. perfect for elena's role considering the book but i don't think she would have that chemistry w/ paul & ian. nina got those.

LadyTrancy Am I the only person who actually hates Nina's portrayal of Elena? I mean, I don't know how you can even say she's a good actress; she's fucking terrible. That being said, I don't really think this girl would be a good choice for Elena..I don't know, with all of the disgustingly flowery descriptions of Elena in the books, I always imagined her having some angelically beautiful look to her. This girl however just looks a little bit like any other girl I'd see walking around my high school. She doesn't have that interesting look to her that's specifically Elena.

ladyliz23 They go completely away from the books in the TV show and I like that! this is Supergirl from Smallville. Would have been a good cast member if they didn't make the TV show different from the books, but Nina Dobrev does an AWESOME job!

ladysybilla I like Nina, but the books do describe Elena as blonde, so I guess it was a choice the producers made. My theory is that they wanted to have a more diverse cast. Bonnie is red-haired and white-skinned in the books, but on the show, she's African American. Also, Caroline has auburn hair in the books but is blonde on the show.

Delenalover126 I am so used to the vampire diaries Tv show's Elena Gilbert, never read the books but the tv show is awesome it's my favorite and I could never picture Elena being blonde. Plus, Nina is also one of my favorite actresses and she plays Kathrine and Elena and she plays them good never seen any actress quite like her.

Sayo-chan Elena in the books is blonde that's true, but she has a complete other personality in it, too. I think Nina suits the role in the series much more.

The vampire crazed theme has hit the media hard this past century and caused an increasing popularity amoungst people. It was definitely not the horror, and tragedy that lured these people in, it was the amor and protection these vampiros gave when falling in amor with a mere human. Now people think that twilight started this vampire and human girl relationship but in all reality The Vampire Diaries did.
