It was called The X-Files: The Lone Gunmen return CONFIRMED for revived series | TV & Radio | Entertainment | Daily Express
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
The Lone Gunmen often helped Mulder and Scully out
The news was announced by actor Dean Haglund, who played the lanky blonde-haired Richard Langly on the cult sci-fi show.
Posting on Twitter he replied to a follower who asked him whether the characters would be coming back for the new series to which he simply said: "yep, it\'s true."
As viewers may remember, the Lone Gunmen actually sacrificed themselves in the episode satirically titled Jump the Shark in the final season of

At the time, the news upset viewers and even the show\'s makers admitted that they had made a mistake in killing off the fan favourites.
The Lone Gunmen became a frequent feature on The X-Files and proved to be so popular that they even had their own spin-off series with Langly, John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood) and Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood) unlocking other conspiracy theories.
The group got their name from the popular Lone Gunman theory linked to the assassination of US President JF Kennedy in the Sixties.
Dean, 49, only found out the news on Wednesday and confirmed it to fans in Sydney, Australia during an event at the Camelot Lounge.
"Well, today they contacted us. We’re shooting July 28. The gunmen are in the final 6", Haglund said.
They are not going to be the only characters returning for the six-episode miniseries, Mitch Pileggi will be reprising the role of Walter Skinner and William B Davis will be back as the Cigarette Smoking Man.
They will be joining leads David and Gillian as they film the new series in Vancouver, Canada.
Excitement is building around the new series with Fox releasing another mysterious trailer featuring the dynamic duo and a crash-landed UFO.
