This is going to be a brief article. I don't exactly have plans to make this really big or indepth. This is nothing mais than the facts and the truth. On August 31st of this year, Night in the Woods co-developer Alec Holowka passed away. After the allegations that came out from Zoe Quinn and members of his staff, he was let off the team shortly after and only a few days later, he died, with the cause of death easily being seen as suicide. Alec Holowka, whether the allegations were true or not, was still able to create a great indie game, one of the best of all time, and now he isn't able to tell his side of the story. Whether he is innocent or not, we will never know. I won't spend this artigo bashing the team or Zoe Quinn for what they said or did, I don't think their intentions were to lead to his death. However, what I do want to talk about is what cancelar culture can do. Even if the allegations against Alec Holowka were true, if he was abusive physically and emotionally to his girlfriends and co-workers, this was still not the proper outcome. Suicide was not the right way out of this. cancelar culture was bound to do this to someone eventually. I can't say if Alec was innocent, I lack the knowledge and the evidence to say otherwise, but I know that he was mentally unstable and suffering through illness, and all of this only proceeded to increase his suffering and resulted in his death. Now we see what cancelar culture can do. It can lead to someone taking their own life from stress, stress that they don't deserve, stress that was brought onto them por either false evidence or people seeking to ruin their careers. This was a subject that I didn't plan to discuss on Nikpiks, and... it was one I was hoping not to discuss. I was hoping I wouldn't have a reason to discuss the mais grim outcomes of cancelar culture, but it had to be discussed. This is one of the outcomes to cancelar culture. cancelar culture needs to stop. Attacking someone over little to no evidence needs to stop. If we can't be bothered to look at the bigger picture and see things from both perspectives, then how is that justice? Regardless, I've said all I can. I don't want to talk about this anymore. cancelar culture, it's terrible. Let it die.
