PROLOGUE
I watched a deer bound through the trees. I was about to turn and leave when I saw somone, or something crouching in the bushes. I walked a bit closer. He looked like a teenager but he wasn't much bigger then me. He had long blond hair and bright big blue eyes. Then I saw something odd. His ears were pointed. And they weren't just slightly pointed. Like an elf's. I stepped closer and he darted away through the trees. 
I chased after him barley keeping up. Once I lost him but then I saw a flash of his blond hair. Just when I was tiring he abruptly stopped. I would've bumped into him if I hadn't been so far behind. I got a little bit closer. He turned around. 
He seemed afraid of me. Suddenly  he ran away again. He ran to a árvore and grabbed one of the branches. He pulled himself onto it. It was amazing how fast he climbed. When he got to the topo, início he leaped to a close tree. Pretty soon I couldn't see him any more. 

                     ONE
I leaped down from the tree. Something was wrong with that girl. When she walked she made noise. And her ears were round. 
I saw the fence ahead and ran over to it. I vaulted over the fence. My mother came hurrying over. 
"Did you catch anything?" she  asked. 
I held up a rabbit. 
"That's all?" 
I nodded. 
"Well take it inside." she said. 
I took it inside. My little sister, Bindweed, was sitting on her cama and my older sister, Bittercress, 
was playing with her. I say down seguinte to them. 
"I caught a rabbit." I said. 
"Well at least you caught some-thing." said Bittercress.

I tried to sleep but I couldn't. Suddenly I heard something. I went outside. I didn't see any-thing. One of the dog started barking. I looked around. Then I saw a huge baby sitting on the ground. I went over. The baby started to crawl away very loudly. I reached out and picked it up. It had round ears. 
Then I saw someone peering over the fence. I began to back away. She climbed over.
