One day, after the members of New Religion had finished their breakfast, Mark, their manager, came to visit. He said, "I have some exciting news. A band from Portland has heard about you, and they want to collaborate on a new album with you." Carl asked, "Portland, Oregon or Massachusetts?" Mark replied, "Oregon." Paul asked, "Which band is it?" Mark said, "They're called The Devil Wants Peace." Lola said, "Oh, I've heard about those guys. I have their album, Out of the Dark Ages." Erin asked, "How did they find out about us?" Mark said, "Apparently, their bassist stumbled across one of your música videos. He looked up some information and learned that you're among the few modern rock bands, if not only, who refuses to use auto-tune. He was very impressed, so he asked the manager to contact me." Carl asked, "Are the members of this band nice?" Mark said, "I don't know, but I spoke with their manager, Lenny, and he was very nice." Lola said, "I can't wait to meet them. It's our first time collaborating with another band, and it's a band that has been around for nearly thirty years." The seguinte day, the members of The Devil Wants Peace arrived in Oak Ridge. After everything was at their hotel, Carl gave them directions to the neighborhood. Erin, Paul, Carl, and Lola came out of their house to see the members of The Devil Wants Peace arrive. John was the first to speak. He said, "My name's John. I'm the lead vocalist and guitarist." Allen said, "I'm Allen, and I play rhythm guitar." Peter said, "I'm Peter, and I play bass." Stan said, "And I'm Stan, and I play drums." Erin said, "It's nice to meet you all. I'm Erin, and I am the lead singer and guitarist." Paul said, "I'm Paul, and I play violão, guitarra as well." Carl said, "I'm Carl, the drummer." Lola said, "And I'm Lola, the bassist." John said, "It's certainly nice to meet all of you." Carl asked, "Where are you from originally?" Erin said, "That's a good question. I noticed Peter speaks with a bit of an accent." John said, "Well, Peter is from Liverpool, England originally. Allen is from Huntington, California. Stan is from Montauk, New York." Erin asked, "What about you, John?" He said, "I'm from Devil's Garden, North Carolina." Erin said, "No way! My mates and I are from Pine Grove." John said, "Pine Grove was six miles away from where I grew up, until that unusual F2 tornado hit. Now it's eight miles." Erin and John laughed. Paul said, "Okay, before the two of you realize you're actually long-lost cousins, let's go inside." Everyone agreed. Lola said, "I think now would be a good time to start dinner." John said, "I'll be happy to fix dinner." Erin said, "John, you're a guest. It's not right for the guest to fix dinner." He smiled and said, "At least let me help. It's the least that I can do to return the favor." Lola started dinner, and John helped. As the eight musicians ate dinner, Carl said, "You certainly know your way around the kitchen, John." John said, "That's very nice of you to say so." Lola said, "It's the truth. You did an excellent job on the pork loin. I always burn it." He said, "I'll show you how to not burn it sometime." She said, "Thanks, John." After dinner, Erin asked, "Did your mother teach you how to cook, John?" He said, "My mother never taught me anything, except what NOT to do to people." She said, "I'm sorry, John." He said, "It's all right. My grandmother taught me how to cook. She also taught me basic morals." Paul asked, "Where is your grandmother now?" John said, "She passed away when I started high school." Lola said, "I'm sorry to hear that." After the cozinha was cleaned, Paul decided to let his dogs, Yukon and Nunavut, as well as the band's mascot, Fritz, outside. The cachorros ran up to John and tackled him to the floor. They began licking his face. He laughed out loud. Paul said, "Get off of him." The cachorros ran to Paul. John got up, still laughing. Paul said, "I'm sorry about that." John said, "No, it's all right. I amor dogs." Paul asked, "Do you have any?" John said, "I used to, but I don't now." Before they left for the hotel, the members of The Devil Wants Peace and the members of New Religion discussed a time they would meet in the recording studio the seguinte day.

One dia during the summer, I decided to visit with Gavin. When I made it over there, his dog, Oliver, greeted me. I said, "Hi, Oliver! Where's Gavin?" The dog led me to Gavin. Gavin was resting under the árvore in his backyard. I said, "You look comfortable, Gavin." I expected him to say, "I am," but he didn't. Oliver licked his face, but he didn't stir. I thought, "Oh, God! Has he passed out?" I knelt down beside of him and gently shook him. "Gavin!" I cried. "Gavin, are you okay?!" He opened his eyes and said, "Good morning!" I said, "Gavin, don't scare me like that!...

It was summer, and one day, Gavin came to me crying. I asked, "Are you okay?" He said, "No." I asked, "What's wrong?" He said, "My grandfather just died." I said, "Gavin, I'm so sorry." I hugged him. He continued to cry. I understood how he felt, since I had lost Pops less than two years earlier. Despite my fear of heights, I decided to fly to Liverpool with Gavin. His father asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?" I said, "Gavin was there for me when Pops died. It's my turn to be there for Gavin." His mother said, "That's very sweet of you, love." On the plane,...

One night, I heard that there was going to be a meteor shower. Bonnie, Gavin, and I went up a colina that was overlooking the high school, as it was a dark hill. After we saw the meteor shower, we looked down the colina towards the school. Bonnie said, "Ya know, that school seemed so big when I first started attending it, but looking down on it now, I realize how small it really is." I said, "Really?" She said, "Yeah. It seems like just yesterday when I was a freshman like you guys. Now I'm just four months away form graduating." Gavin said, "That's crazy. This time next...

It was the last dia of school before natal Break. At one point, I noticed that I was having some pain in my right side. Gavin asked, "Catherine, are you all right?" I said, "Yeah, I'm just fine. Why?" He said, "You're atuação like you're hurt." I said, "Oh, I'm just having some pain in my right side. I'm probably bruised from where I slipped and fell on a patch of ice, no big deal." Jennifer overheard me and said, "Look, I'm not a doctor, but you should definitely go see one." I said, "I think I'll be okay. I'll see what happens tomorrow." The seguinte day, the pain...

One day, I was visiting with my paternal grandparents. A thunderstorm was approaching as we were getting ready to leave. As I was walking to my aunt and uncle's car, I felt a bolt of lightning hit me. I felt the strike, and the seguinte thing I knew, I woke up in my uncle's arms. He said, "Holy cow! I thought you were dead!" I said, "You did?" He said, "Yeah. You looked dead." My aunt said, "You really did." I said, "That really hurt." My uncle said, "I think we should get you to a hospital just to be sure you're okay." Thankfully, I only had minor injuries. The doctor...

It was our first dia of high school. Gavin and I were quite nervous, to be honest. The dia started out badly. I heard someone make fun of Gavin's accent. The bully asked, "What's up with the cheesy accent?" Gavin replied, "I'm from England, Liverpool, to be exact." The bully said, "Oh, you're from that town where those insects are from. That explains your trashy haircut. You should be beaten for that." I walked up to the bully and said, "If you hurt Gavin, you better make plans for me to hurt you." The bully ran in fear and never bothered us again. Later, I got punched...

I was reluctant to include the eighth grade in the story. There weren't too many good things that happened that year. The only good things that happened that ano were a couple of new friends that I made and the fact that I made straight A's. Everything else that happened was bad. The worst thing that happened that ano was the death of my maternal grandfather. Although my mother died in childbirth, her parents still wanted to have a relationship with me. I was close to Pops, (that's what I called him). I did at times think he needed to be knocked off of his pompous...

One day, in the seventh grade, I noticed some kids threatening to beat Gavin. I came up to the bullies and said, "Don't beat up my friend. If you want to beat up someone, do it to me." Gavin said, "Catherine, no! What are you doing?!" I said, "I'd rather it be me than you!" The bullies began beating on me. Gavin begged the bullies to stop, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. I was outnumbered, so I couldn't fight back. Gavin tried to physically get them off of me, but he was unsuccessful. I said, "Gavin, get out of here! They'll get you, too!" Gavin said, "Hold on, Catherine!...

Christmas Vacation was officially over, and we were back in school. Gavin and I were heading to our seguinte class, and we saw someone being bullied. A group of kids punched a girl in the face, and she fell to the ground. Gavin said, "Come on, Catherine! Let's get those bullies away from her." I said, "I'm right behind you! I can't just stand and watch someone get bullied." We approached the bullies, and Gavin said, "Back off! I've got crutches, and I'm not afraid to use them!" The bullies walked away. I helped the girl to her feet and asked, "Are you okay?" She said, "Yeah....

A couple of months passed, and Gavin and I became really, really close, but one day, there was something in the air. Whatever it was, Gavin and I got into a horrible argument. I don't remember what we were arguing about, but we said some cruel things to each other. I dare not repeat them. I went início crying. Later, I decided to make up with Gavin. I went across the rua to his home. His mother answered the door. I said, "I need to talk to Gavin. I want to make up with him." She said, "I'll tell him you're here." A few minutos later, she returned and said, "He's gone."...

One October day, it had started out normally. Gavin and I had a really good dia until the last class of the day. We had some free time at the end of the class. There was a girl calling me ugly and deformed. I was upset, but I tried not to show that she got to me. Gavin came up beside me and said, "Hey! Be nice to her!" The girl asked, "What are you gonna do? Boys can't hit girls." He said, "I know, but if they could, you'd be the first one I'd hit." She said, "But girls can hit boys." He said, "Go ahead! Hit me!" She punched him in the mouth, knocking out a tooth. The...

One September day, I had an experience that would change my life. I noticed that some new neighbors were moving in across the street. I decided to greet my new neighbors, especially since there was a kid my age there. I said, "Hi, I'm Catherine. It's nice to meet you." He said, "Hi, I'm Gavin. It's nice to meet you, too." I said, "Nice accent you have there!" He said, "Thank you. I'm from Liverpool, England." I said, "Like the Beatles?!" He said, "Yeah. Like the Beatles." Seeing that we were both Beatles fans, I knew we would get along. Gavin seemed so friendly and...

My childhood had a rocky start from dia one. My mother was in poor health from the dia she learned she was pregnant with me. Although I turned out to be healthy, my mother died in childbirth. Realizing his own mortality, my father named my aunt and uncle as legal guardians if something were to happen to him. My father and my aunt were siblings. One night, when I was three years old, my aunt was babysitting me, and my father never returned, for he was killed in a car accident. As a result, I ended up living with my aunt and uncle. They never had children, so I was basically...

Some time passed, and the members of The Devil Wants Peace began to notice something. John was the only member who didn't have a girlfriend. He did have a girl who was his friend. Her name was Violet, and John had become really good friends with her. She occasionally visited him in the recording studio, (this is not a John and Yoko story, I promise). She admired his general confidence and superb leadership skills. John was very fond of Violet. Once, John got into a terrible argument with Allen. John told tolet, violet about it, and she provided him comfort. She even said, "Work it out with Allen....

After a brief hiatus, The Devil Wants Peace released another album. They went on another tour. One evening, they were signing autographs for some fans. Suddenly, it began to rain. Peter said, "I think we should seek shelter. I don't think our fãs will want to come out in the rain for autographs." John said, "Good thinking, Peter. Let's go." The group began to run towards a nearby shelter. Thunder and lightning crashed around them. A bolt of lightning flashed close to them. Allen, Peter, and Stan met in the nearby shelter. Peter said, "That lightning flash was close. Is everyone all right?"...

John's uncle, Bob, was always supportive of The Devil Wants Peace. Even as they were approaching the 2000's, and the albums kept coming, Uncle Bob supported his nephew no matter what. However, there was one dia that would change John's perspective on life forever. One day, the members of The Devil Wants Peace were recording an album. They were in the process of recording their song, "The Unknown," which was written por John, Allen, and Peter. Uncle Bob had visited that day. Uncle Bob said, "John, I'm sorry to say this, but I really don't like the song." John said, "I don't understand." Uncle...

Shortly after releasing their new album, the members of The Devil Wants Peace got ready for their seguinte tour. The group decided to visit with John's uncle, Bob, one day. He said, "John, I heard you were in a car accident a few weeks ago. Are you okay?" John said, "I'm fine now, Uncle Bob. It's all thanks to my band mates. I would have died out there if not for them." Uncle Bob asked, "How did you guys find him?" Allen said, "When he didn't show up to the recording studio and didn't answer the phone, we went to his cabine to see if he was okay. He wasn't there." Because of a busy schedule, The Devil Wants Peace was unable to record another album until 1995. Things had calmed down por then. John was now living on his own, in the mountains of Redshore, in a cabin. One day, during the recording of their album, Out of the Dark Ages, John had agreed to write a song with Peter and Stan. They presented the first two verses of their song to him, and they asked him to come up with a chorus and a third verse. John said, "I'll see what I can do." He went home, and he began to write a chorus. When he finished, he was excited. He said to himself, "I can't wait to...

Later that year, John was asked to give an interview. He asked, "Do you want my band mates to come, too?" He was told "No, just you." He initially refused. The person on the other line asked if he would come if he was allowed to bring his band mates along. He said, "We come together or not at all."
