A Happy Life: Chapter 16 (6/18/09)
[The sun is setting over New Jersey. Its streams shine through the windows of House's office. House is sitting in his chair with his red ball in his hands. House's mind travels back to when he found out Cuddy had lost Joy. How broken she looked when he went to check on her. House knew he had pushed her really hard about becoming a mother. House knew that he really hurt her that day. When she asked him why he negated everything. Why did he negate everything at that moment he didn’t know what to say. Then House looked into Cuddy's eyes and he wanted so badly to take her pain away. House crashed his lips into Cuddy's trying to pull the pain into himself. He was used to the pain. He wanted to take her pain for her. The minuto their lips touched there was an electricity. House wanted to carry Cuddy down the hall that night and make amor to her. Comfort her with his touch. House knew that if they did make amor that night Cuddy would deny it and say it was because she was hurting and he was human for once. So House simply said goodnight and left. House is brought out of his reverie por the familiar click of pumps coming down the hall. He doesn’t look up but he hears her enter his office. Cuddy is standing in front of his desk. House looks up and sees that Cuddy is smiling. Cuddy's beautiful smile he missed it so much when he was in Mayfield. Who was House kidding he missed Cuddy so much.]
House: Case solved the patient is going to be okay.
Cuddy: that’s good. House. I'm getting ready to head início it's been a long day.
[House observes Cuddy instinctively puts a hand over her lower abdomen when she is around him. He's not sure if her hand there to ensure that proof of their amor is still there. Maybe Cuddy does it to remind House that he did give her something of himself. For whatever reason House finds it is somewhat comforting to him.]
House: I'll be over later Cuddy I have to stop por my apartment first.
[Cuddy looks down at the carpet and House sees a smile creep onto her face. She turns and walks back out the door. House hears the familiar click of her heels fading.]
House: [to himself] I have something to show you Cuddy..
[House rides his bike down the twisting streets to his apartment. He opens to door to his apartment drops his capacete and bag at the door. He walks over to his piano and gets the sheet música sitting there on its easel. He gets his keyboard and sits it por the door. He goes into his bedroom and grabs some cloths. House packs some the things in his bag and puts the keyboard on topo, início the clothes and zips the duffel bag shut.He carries the bag outside and straps it to the bike. Driving through the streets to Cuddy's house is like segundo nature to House now. It has been months since this routine was set in place. House pulls up to Cuddy's and places the bike up seguinte to the garage. He grabs the bag and heads towards the house. Unknown to House a car is parked across the rua with a black man with a gotee and tall woman with green eyes. The man and woman look at each other and smile. House takes the key from under the pot and opens the front door. He picks up the bag and enters Cuddy's house and swings the door shut with his cane.]
House: I'm here mistress. I brought toys..[House raises his eyebrows seductively]
[Cuddy enters the room carrying Rachel on her shoulder. She motions towards the kitchen.]
Cuddy: I have jantar almost ready. What in the bag? What did you steal from the hospital?
House: Cuddy I'm appalled. I wouldn't steal, just borrow. It isn't from the hospital. I'll show you after dinner.
[Cuddy puts Rachel in the playpen and heads back to the cozinha leaving Rachel and House in the living room. House looks down at Rachel who looks up at him with that Cuddy smile. House grabs his violão, guitarra from the corner and sits on the couch. He begins to play a song.]
House: Goodnight, my angel.Time to close your eyes And save these perguntas for another day. I think I know what you've been asking me. I think you know what I've been trying to say. I promised I would never leave you And you should always know. Wherever you may go. No matter where you are I never will be far away.
[House is still strumming and cantar when Cuddy enters the room. The scene before makes her smile as she walks over and places a kiss on House's cheek. Rachel has fallen asleep in the play pen.]
House: What was that for? If trying to get me to sleep with you.. well, its working.
Cuddy: Come. Time to eat.
[Cuddy grabs House's hand and leads him into the kitchen. They both sit and eat their dinner. House and Cuddy just look at each other intermittently. A word is not spoken. When they are finished they both get up and head into the living room. Rachel is still asleep. House walks over to the bag and unzips it. He pulls out the keyboard and sits it on Cuddy' coffee table. House sits on the sofá and motions for Cuddy to sit beside him. Cuddy complies and sits down beside him. Cuddy looks at House who has this look on his face that she can't quite put her finger on. It’s a cruz between love, regret,shyness and reverence. House turns to face Cuddy. House starts playing a slow sweet polka type of song. His fingers glide along the keys. It is the sweetest thing Cuddy has ever heard. Cuddy looks at the sheet música and then she sees the name at the top..Cuddy's Serenade. Cuddy's eyes well up with tears. ]
House: I wrote this for you for Rachel christening. [House smiles at Cuddy]
Cuddy: it's beautiful House. I know your worried about being a father. You can be whatever you want to be to the baby House. No pressure.
House: Cuddy its our baby. I had such a screwed up childhood. All my father cared about was the core. He had no patience for screwing up or being second.
Cuddy: House i'm so sorry you had to go through that..
House: It doesn’t matter Cuddy. Point is I don’t know that I will be the best father but I am willing to try.
[Cuddy places her hand over House's hand and still it.Cuddy places her small hands on House's cheeks and turns his head towards hers. Cuddy gently kisses him on the lips. House pulls Cuddy onto his lap. House kisses Cuddy mais rough this time. The camera pans out. Through a window in New Jersey we see a couple beijar each other on the sofá with an infant sleeping in a playpen.]

I'll tell you a little bit about myself first. No offense to hamerons, but i have always been a outright HUDDY fan.So I am obviously bouncing off the walls. When this seaseon starts, I feel like everyone has kind of abandoned House. I mean I get the whole pain in the a$$ thing but still. Wilson is the one that fixes everthing and for him to basically laugh at him when he apologizes is cruel. THe bright light at the end of the tunnel is Cuddy is going to do whatever it takes to make House happy above anyone else.
