HAPPILY EVER AFTER....chapter 1
She's trying to do as the Dr ordered, stay off her feet, relax, but it's not something she's used to.
"I don't want to be alone", she said out loud to herself. She had no close friends and her family lived in another state, the one person she always turned to since beginning her job as Dean of Medicine at PPTH was Wilson, but he was gone now; new job, new state, new friends. She knew someone she could call, but did she want to.
She picked up the phone, hesitantly. Maybe he wasn't home, he would see the caller ID and return the call if he wanted to. As she assumed, the answering machine picked up, which didn't exactly mean he wasn't there. "Why is my coração beating so fast?" "What am I so nervous about?" she wondered if she should leave a message in hopes he was in earshot and would pick up or at least call her back. "Hi it's me, Lisa, uh Cuddy" she was able to get out, "nothing important, I'm just going crazy here alone, was wondering if you maybe can come......" I'm here" he said in a groggy voice, "what's up?" "you want ME to come over?" "you ok?" "May...maybe this wasn't such a good idea, I'm sorry I bothered you, House. Good night".
He wasnt going back to sleep after that call. House limped back to his bedroom where he found his jeans and shoes, her hurriedly put them on, grabbed his helmut and headed for the door. "I can't let this opportunity go by" he smirked to himself.
She sat back in her chair, feet up sipping her tea. "What have I just done?" she thought to herself. "House would be the last one to call when I need someone to talk to, why do I feel this need to be with him now?" She knew she could have always called Stacy or Cameron or heck even her sister was only a phone call away. But it was House she had the desire to see.
Just as her eyes started to close she heard the rumble of a motorcycle coming up her driveway. "It's him" she thought to herself as her cheeks got hot with embarassment. Before she could get the door, he was already inside. "I used the key under the rock" he said. "Figured you shouldn't or couldn't get up with that huge bunda and stomach" He jokingly said to her with that evil but lustful grin. "You're an bunda House, why are you here". "As I recall it was my phone that rang, you called me remember?" Yes", she said, "but I also said never mind" "But you didn't mean it, admit it Cuddles, you wanted me here". She couldn' bring her self to bicker with him,...because it was true.
He sat on the ottoman where her feet were resting, she lifted her legs and placed them in his lap. "Do you need me to do anything for you? "You need to tell me Cuddy, I'm..I'm not good at this sort-a-stuff". She smiled at him because for some reason she knew he genuinely meant it.
He hasnt been his normal arrogant, misanthropic self ever since he came back from his nearly 3 mês Sabatical. He left shortly after Wilson did, he said he needed to get away that there was something he needed to do and he needed to do it right then. Cuddy agreed on one condition, that he go to a seminar in South Africa; he would have to lecture for at least 3 hours per week, much to Cuddy's surprise, he agreed. When he returned it was as if someone roubou his body, it looked like House walked and talked like House, but he it just couldn't be. The man who returned was actually human. You could have conversations with him he would listen and be interested, he did clinic duty, his paperwork and he met with patients. Cuddy nor the rest of the staff said a word for fear the old House would return. Occasionally House would be House but it never lasted he hardly ever butt heads with Cuddy and he even wore his Lab casaco when the Board met for meetings.
"I'm going crazy", she said to House. "'I've been alone staring at these walls for a week now, I cant do this much longer. I need to go run my hospital I dont like that Jacobs took over, I mean I know its temporary and he knows what he's doing but it's my hospital" "And you need you to be off your feet, why jeopardize this pregnancy Cuddy?" House said. "Look how much you went through to get this fetus", Cuddy's shooting him looks that could kill, even though she really wants to smile at him. "look what your doing to your body.
"I just need to be in contact with the outside world, I haven't been this stifled in over 20 yrs". "I think the biggest problem is I cant sleep, and I cant take anything to make me sleep, so if you know what will help me to sleep, por all means let me know". Just as she said that she realized the invitation she had just given House, and the door was wide open. He was smiling from ear to ear. "Oh I have just what the Dr ordered your in good hands now, "oh and I mean that ....literally"
"Whats on your mind House" Cuddy smirked. "Oh I'm gonna make you sleep like a baby tonight, Lisa" replied an over zealous House. She glanced down at her growing belly and then at House's leg, shook her head and said "don't see that happening anytime soon or ever for that matter" "Now Cuddles thats not what you were saying 5 months ago" "Dont go there House, dont spoil one of the most perfect but should-have-never-happened nights in my life, besides even if I wanted to, Dr said no sex.
Which actually sounded funny seeing how she needed IVF to get pregnant, what made the Dr think she was out having sex.
I'm pretty sure she's talking about.....intercourse...." I know your a prude and other than 5 months atrás you probably hadn't gotten laid in oh I'd say 24 yrs. House stands up takes his cane to steady himself then holds out his hand for her. "Dont fight it, you know you want me and have wanted me since college, I'm not gonna do anything that would hurt you or your fetus, trust me" She stood without saying a word and led him down the hall to her bedroom. He glanced in at the nursery that wasn't nearly done...for some odd reason a huge smile came over his face.
