I LOVE the disney Princess. And, like the nerd I am, I did a little research on thier true stories. And i've got to say...

Freaky stuff people! Maybe i'm just cursed for being a modern teenage girl, but I find some of the stuff in the tales unbelievable! Here's just a sampler. I get most of the info from Wikipedia. Not really a reliable resource, I know. But it's all i'm going on right now!
1. The Little Mermaid

*The Mermaid does take the potion from the sea witch, but it says that her feet will ache and bleed every time she dances.
*Her sisters trade thier hair to the sea witch in exchange for a knife. If the mermaid kills the prince and lets the blood drop on her feet, she will turn back into a mermaid.
*The mermaid, of course, can't do it. So instead, she throws the faca and herself into the sea. But instead of turning to foam (As sereias are suppose to do when they die) she feels the sun. It goes onto explain that she will get her a soul through good deeds.
----So, she gets a happy ending, but not with the prince. I think we're all glad she ended up with Eric in the end!
2. Sleeping Beauty

*Disney pretty much got in straight. All up until the fadas put the king, queen, and nobility asleep. After a hundred years passed, with the upper class and the princess still asleep, the prince shows up. Showing there was a lot of time that passed between the prick and the awakening.
3. Snow White

*It explains that Snow White's real mother wished for her to be born, but she dies soon after her birth.
*I can see why her step-mom would be jealous. She was pronounced "The fairest of them all" at age seven!
*Instead the coração of a pig, the hunter was sad to bring the queen the coração of a deer.
*The queen tricks Snow White three times!
. She offers to tie the laces to Snowie's corset, suffocating her.
.She dresses as an old woman and brushes Snow White's hair with a poision comb.
. Dressed as a farmer's wife, she finally gives Snowy the apple.
*After eating the apple, snowy falls into the deep sleep. Aparently, lover boy is so amazed por her beauty that he decided to carry her and her coffin off. But his servents stumble on some nearby plants, dislodging the maçã, apple chunk from her throat.
.....really?
*The queen is forced to step into a pair of iron shoes and dance until she drops dead.
4. Beauty and the Beast

*Belle was suppose to have three sisters. Jealous of thier sister's fortune, they convince her to stay a dia past what the beast allowed her to visit her family. Thinking she left him, the beast died of coração break!
*Belle was originally shallow, she only liked the beast as a friend up until he died, then she realized she loved him.
5. Cinderella

*The prince actually hosted two balls.(Why do I get the feeling somebody is going to crack a really perverted joke?) The segundo one was where she lost her slipper!
*In some versions, when the stepsisters went to try on the slippers, thier mother had them mutilate thier own feet -cut them up- to fit the glass slipper. And you thought Lady Tremaine was bad!?!?!
*Of course, the slipper fit and cinderela became the prince's wife. Her step-sisters begged for forgiveness and they actually ended up marrying two lords!
6. The Princess And The Frog

I haven't seen the movie, and the artigo really doesn't go into detail but, here it is!
*There are a few minor name changes. Tiana and Naveen are called Emma and Eadric in the story. And i'm guessing Mama Odie is called Aunt Grassina. She is Emma's aunt in the story.

Jane wouldn't dislike Snow White, but she wouldn't care for her because Snow has no ambitions, interests, or hobbies like Jane does. Her personality is too-housewiveish and she's too young and naive, and she wouldn't like that she sits around and waits for her prince.
