shanyuisboss I actually understand why people are upset. Merida was supposed to represent a princess that is different from the others, and isn't meant to be beautiful. When they did the redesign, they all of a sudden wanted to make Merida looks beautiful like a "real" princess. (even though I personally think it looks ugly) They are changing her looks to make her seem more princessy. And kids are actually saying that they like Merida in the redesign better than in the movie. However, I am getting really annoyed with the parents and I think they're going overboard and being so dramatic. I mean seriously? Your going to start a war over this? Even though I kind of disagree with you, I liked this article a on you made good points. :)

jainabieber7 I totally agree with you. Parents are so worried that their children are going to be poisoned and discouraged by her new look. If your child's main influence is an animated character and you literally fear the way they grow up because of it, then you really need to figure out what kind of parent you are. It's a parent's job to teach and influence their child, not a freaking cartoon character. The petition is absolutely ridiculous and people need to find something better to do, rather than write a letter to the CEO of the Walt Disney Company complaining about a merchandising strategy.

Plus, the fact that Merida shows no respect or obedience Elinor AT ALL in the beginning and does something incredibly dangerous to change her mother doesn't seem like it would be a bad influence on their kids...?! I actually think Merida is a great person to learn from, but people are crazy if they truly want their kids to act like Merida. She behaves the exact way with Elinor people are ALWAYS BASHING KIDS TODAY FOR ACTING LIKE. You can't have it both ways, people. plus, you can be tomboyish or athletic or even spoiled and not be a brat.

LupinPrincess One, the movie was never about her not wanting to be a princess, it was her not wanting to grow up and accept the responsibility of ruling, she just wanted to stay free as a child and do what she wants Two, she didnt dislike her princess dress, she disliked that it didnt fit correctly and she couldn’t move, don't over analyze that. Brenda even says that she didnt wanna play merida off as just being a Tomboy because merida has more dimensions than that Three, at the end of the movie she comes to a balance, she’s actually wearing that dress in the redesign, the belt and everything, and instead of shooting arrows she’s spending time with her mother and making a tapestry Four, if you know ANYTHING about art, don’t compare a cgi and a 2D, do yourselves a favor and look up how merida was drawn in concept art during the making of brave…in the FINAL 2D versions her face and body are extremely identical to the redesign! And n the disney princess line is it’s own style, rapunzel went through the change, and merida doesn’t deserve any special treatment Five, her personality shines in the redesign! All the other girls hold their hands all dainty and look like their dancing! While merida stands hands on her hips, strong, her arms crossed with attitude or even holding her bow! Merida is still herself! So technically she hasent been changed at all! That is HER own dress and her own 2D design…this has been blown way out of proportion!
