Give me a fucking break already! He almost killed Elena on the location where her parents died and where he 'supposedly' saved her. (for all we know he could've caused the accident) That's not protective, that sick! If SE fans can keep using the Jeremy snapping thing as an excuse for Elena not be with Damon, then we can use 'Stefan's new low move'. A lot of things Damon does are done in the heat of the moment. Snapping Jeremy's neck= He had just been rejected twice. You try to deal with that, when you've been rejected for 145 years. Threatening to kill Elena in 1x13= he was still madly in love with Katherine and Stefan and Elena were trying to stop him from finding her. When you know he's missed her for 145 years, you should atleast understand his anger. Feeding Elena his blood in 2x20= He was afraid to lose her.

The bridge incident was particularly cruel. Even if, at the heart of it all, Stefan is trying to make Elena hate him for her own good, he went too far.

People continue to put Stefan on a Saint-pedestal and assume that all of this is to protect Elena. If he's just trying to protect Elena by making her hate him, then he's doing a hell of a job. Now, neither Salvatore is a saint. Both have their redeeming qualities. The thing is, Elena already knew about Damon’s dark side when she met him, she didn’t know about Stefan’s. Stefan mislead Elena a lot in the beginning of their relationship, making Damon out to be worse than he was and making himself out to be better than he was, so his actions are all the more shocking and painful-to-swallow for Elena. Remember the scene: Alaric: " I think Stefan is a good guy. But at the end of the day he’s still a vampire." Elena: " I know it’s hard to understand but Stefan is different. He’ll never do anything to hurt me." !?? Now, in the name of revenge, Stefan has to be better villain and Elena is his ultimate weapon in a war against Klaus. If Elena is a vampire, Klaus can't make any more hybrids. He kidnaps Elena, forces her to drink his blood, and threatens to drive her off Wickery Bridge, the same bridge where Elena's parents died. Klaus had to shout for Stefan to stop like a few times before he even stopped the car. He uses her as a pawn, because Elena's "fear sold it".
So it’s natural for Elena to be angrier at Stefan than at Damon, after all, Stefan is supposedly the love of her life and people you most love have the most ability to hurt you. Her love for Stefan was strong, but when someone hurts you and persuades you that all he wanna do now is get revenge, without caring about the people that dies - what else is left there? Stefan may have gotten what he wanted, at what price? Personally, as much as I love Stefan when he's bad, i really started to miss good Stefan.

Sadly, a lot of SE fans are really just glorified Stefan fans, and they never hold him to account for anything he does, even when its wrong. Instead, they see him as a martyr and a victim. I was surprised when I read some comments on the clip of the bridge scene on YouTube. A lot of people sympathised, commisserated, and proclaimed how much they loved him. Very few mentioned Elena. Some even remarked that Stefan really loved her, and said that it was obvious he just wanted to be hated. I was like, No! If he really loves Elena, like everyone thinks he does, he should try to get her back! I would have more respect for him if he did that. I hear way too many SE fans using the 'Stefan leaves town with Klaus to save Damon' and 3x09 to justify their beliefs that he's still a good guy underneath. That somehow, that means he's the better brother, and that his 'sacrificing himself' really means that he's the hero and he loves Elena more. If almost driving the love of your life off the same bridge her parents died just to outplay Klaus and get her to hate you is love, then I think she's better off without you. Nobody needs to be loved like that. It's deeply disturbing. At least when Damon did crazy things, he did it in the name of love. He did it because he wanted to keep Elena safe. If Stefan was trying to keep Elena safe, then maybe he would be justified in his actions. But he's not. His agenda isn't about her anymore, it's about Klaus. What if Klaus hadn't backed down? Would Stefan have just crashed the car anyway, because he couldn't bear to lose to him...?

It pisses me the fuck off; but SE shippers will never change their views on Stefan. Hell; even if he killed Elena in 3x11- they still would've come up with a reason to defend him. They don't give a shit about Elena; it all Stefan is perfect and flawless etc for them.

why can't he "protect" her and be with her. can't he do 2 things at once. what he did was use her cuz like damon told stefan " at the end of the day i'll be the 1 to keep her alive"

It's annoying the hell out of me but I expected it. And I'm trying to look at the bright side of this. The longer they keep the Damon/Elena relationship rocky because of Stefan the better the chance we'll have a Delena endgame...I could sit through another 15 series of Stelena if it means we get the Delena endgame.
