gave us one of the most amazing superhero fights in the history of the genre, it could have been bigger, as there were a couple of already established heroes who were MIA from the big battle - including Thor. Now Taika Waititi, the director of the upcoming
, has gone on record as to which side he thinks the God of Thunder would have chosen, as well as which side he would have wanted the hero to take. Apparently the filmmaker would prefer to see Thor on Team Captain America, though he doesn\'t necessarily believe the character would have ultimately chosen a side.
While every member of the Avengers, along with a couple of new heroes, got to join the fray in Joe and Anthony Russo\'s
both Thor and Hulk were not in the picture - a point the film actually bring up. We won\'t be seeing either of them again until
hits screens next fall, but Fandango asked director Taika Waititi which side he thought Thor would have taken. The response probably tells us more about the Kiwi filmmaker that it does about Thor, but it\'s still pretty great:
We\'ve talked a little bit about this. Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team. He wouldn\'t have liked the idea of those teams. But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap. I would side with Cap purely because I don\'t trust billionaires.
It\'s a funny response, though one could argue that it\'s a bit of a cop out on Taika Waititi\'s part. Start his own team? With who? And with what goal exactly? We totally understand that Thor is ultimately a space alien, and likely wouldn\'t have considered himself under the authority of any earth rules - but when it comes to the Sokovia Accords, there are really only two perspectives. You either support it, or you don\'t. Even if Thor had started his own team, what exactly would they have been working towards?
makes a point to mention that Bruce Banner would likely have ended up siding with Captain America, we never get any indication of how Thor might decide. If Taika Waititi is right and Thor ultimately would side with Cap, then it may explain why the two characters stayed away. Both of them adding to the power of Steve Rogers\' team would have utterly destroyed any pretense that Team Iron Man even stood a chance. The Russo Brothers intimated that Hulk had to be left out because he would have unfairly tipped the scales just on his own.
