What should I do?

A guy that I am in amor with(and he loves me) said that he would tell me what our relationship is. He said yesterday that he did not have an answer and then today he looked at me empty-like and said, "If I said I do not have an answer, then I will not pull one out of my hat." At that my coração just... broke. I need your advice. I still amor him a lot, but.... what should I do?
