mystery4life maybe this is not the real plot.because i saw a different plot in which barbie was the princess who has to save her kingdom after the powerful pearl gets stolen. another interesting plot is that barbie gets blamed for stealing the pearl and she must prove her innocence. we will just have to wait to see the real plot . hopefully it won't be this one.

MJsValentine I'm not on the edge of my seat after reading. But I suppose that we, as always, have to wait and see. I'm just disappointed that her name is Lumina. The whole recycling-names thing is bothersome, but oh well. Never mind.

MajorAbbey Well, I'll give credit where it's due; we have yet to have a Barbie character who's actually a hair stylist. We've had who knows how many characters involved in fashion, but I don't think I've heard of a hair stylist before. I'm hoping the last plot you suggested - where she's blamed for stealing the pearl and has to prove her innocence - is the real one. That one could be quite interesting.

MelodyLaurel I don't know, I'm a bit wary about this. For one, there's something about it that reminds me of the first Mermaid Tale movie, and that movie is very high on my list of least favourite Barbie movies. Agree with Zaff that the name-recycling is getting old, but to be honest, I've come to expect that now. I do have to wonder what good does changing colour of pearls bring her, though. Sounds like a lame power, but I guess I can't expect much from this franchise, can I. I still haven't gotten over my disappointment over Pony Tale, and now this turns out to be completely different from what I'd hoped. I'm trying very hard to stay positive, but I do worry it's time I step away from these movies once and for all. They just don't appeal to me anymore. Shame, really. My faith was just restored with Pink Shoes, but sadly that did not last long.

MajorAbbey ^What you said in that last paragraph is exactly how I feel about the movies, right down to the comment on PS. I know I shouldn't judge the movies so early, and I try not to (especially considering how PCS turned out to be better than I expected from the outset), but it just gets harder and harder to show enthusiasm. They don't appeal to me anymore. That's all there is to it. I look at the things I love - the shows and books I get into, the movies and characters I like - and they're just not present here (or, in the latter's case, they're barely acknowledged, but we all know that by now). And I know the problem's on my end, rather than Mattel's, because those things just wouldn't appeal to the audience Mattel's trying to reach. I can fault them for their marketing and their treatment of older characters, but I can't really blame them for not making movies that appeal to someone whose favourite movies of the year so far involve video game characters coming to terms with who they are and a medieval army going to war with giants. I can talk about the generation gap, and how different kids are today (for better or worse), but when all's said and done, these newer movies just aren't my thing. Sometimes I feel like the only reason I'm still here at all is because of A. my love for the older movies, B. the friends I've made here (because you're still awesome) and C. because I'm a completest. I try and stick with things for as long as possible. I don't know if it's because I'm hoping they'll get better, or because I don't like leaving things unfinished, but here I am. I'll stand by what I said in the earlier comment, about that last plot, because it could well be interesting. But I can't get my hopes up. As for the pearls, though, I'd say it's a better power than having your capabilities depend on how good your shoes are. But that's not saying much.

mystery4life To be honest i know how everyone feels about bms. Yes there not that good like they used to be but i think it is our fault we keep blaming Mattel for making bad movies but yet we never complain about it either. Mattel does listen . we are the reason bms are making money not their targeted audience . we have a right to say what we want to see. Mlp has fewer fans than bms yet the fans are getting what they want and its because these fans keep telling Hasbro look we give you our money now you have to give us what we want .has anyone told Mattel that we are bms fans and that they should consider us?

MJsValentine Apart from the reasons Abbey mentioned, I'm still here because I do have little hope. You see, after having a run of MT, FF and FS we got Princess Charm School, which was a good movie. Then again we had a long run of 'mediocre' movies (although MT2 was nice) BOOM we had PS, which was more than beautiful. (It's really a matter of preferences.) Right now I'm feeling bitter because Mariposa 2 doesn't remotely appear to be anything I hoped for. Instead of Lord G., Carlos or Henna we get some random crystal fairy princess. Then there's Pony Tale, but it's somewhat bearable because Barbie's sisters are entertaining and Pearl Princess is just the cherry on the top. *sarcasm end* I agree with Lexie and Abbey. The movies don't appeal to me anymore as they used, but Mattel can't do much about it. I sound like a headless chicken right now. Really I'm just sleep deprived and over all bitter today, but I'll just stick around to see if there's something nice in store.

MajorAbbey Believe me, if I thought Mattel would listen to my requests, I'd have said something. Heaven knows I could've. I could provide plenty of proof about the popularity of the older movies, the fact that older characters would sell etc. But the truth is, I just don't think they'd care. We're not the target audience, so it doesn't matter what we think, especially considering that they're probably not short of money. The newer movies may not be selling well, but they're not selling so badly they'll actually pay attention to what anyone else wants. The only way anyone's going to care is if they start losing money; or, better yet, if they give us something we want and it sells well. (That's why I had such high hopes for the Headmistress Bloodgood doll from Monster High, or at least I did until Mattel paired her up with a horse and used it as an excuse to charge her at a price no one would be eager to pay. Typical.) One of the reasons I'd like to work there is to put these suggestions across, but seeing as I don't work there, I can't see them paying attention. You make an interesting comparison with MLP, although I don't think the fanbase is smaller. In my experience, the MLP fanbase is huge. That's the reason they're getting what they want; Hasbro saw this fanbase and paid attention to it. Until Mattel realizes that anyone over nine watches their movies, we won't be getting that treatment. MJsValentine - I hear you about Mariposa 2. You've listed three of my favourite characters and none of them made it into this sequel (although they remembered Willa, and that's a start). Personally, though, that pink ball creature bothers me far more than the princess. At least they could do something interesting with the princess. The fact that they randomly replaced Mariposa's original sidekick with that is worrying.

manu962 As long as children/ young girls like their movies Mattel would never worry about us. And most of girls loved FF,FS and PaP.. I can't really blame them because they don't make the movies how I want. Times have changed and so have the movie styles. I guess Mattel is just trying to fit in with the new style. You have noticed that most of newschoolists here are under the age of 13. I feel sorry for those children nowadays why don't know what good movies are. I don't like Mariposa's look either, and I would prefer Zinzie instead of these puffballs too. But I never thought of leaving here. Moder or Classic as long as it's still a Barbie Movie I'll always watch it.

myladykeira is a nice story but does not inspire me because I find very childish that a mermaid may be a hairstylist who has the power to change the color of the pearls ... but who knows maybe I will like it a lot when I will watch, for sure will be more beautiful then mariposa and the fairy princess.

Northspeed I've been reading the comments here and I can't help but to feel a little out of place because I happen to like some of the movies everyone seem to hate. Don't get me wrong, I love the older movies to bits as well, but I also like some of the newer ones as well.
