The sounds of giggling and cutting up invaded the silence of Eight's dreams. His eyes squinted open and let the blurry world come into focus, light filtering in and shapes clearing into existence. He didn't mover his body, nor his head, he still felt exhausted from the days activities. Every muscle in his body felt well worked, and his healed wound felt bruised.
What a dia it had been.
The sounds that roused him from his slumber continued from across the den, whispers and giggles - females, and the younger variety, no doubt.
Eight fully opened his esmeralda green eyes and scanned over to them, his ears perking at this sound or that. A fuzzy sentence would make its way through to him, only few words discernible followed por further giggling.
The dia was getting late, within an hora or so, it would be time to meet up with the nightly patrol once mais for the week before some much needed Rest and Relaxation.
Eight finally found the energy to sit upright and try to begin his dia for the segundo time. He lurched up groaning so often, a joint or two popped as he made his way noisily to the sitting position.
The girls in the antro, den seemed to take note, they got quieter with their whispering and giggling, their attention turning from Eight to each other a few times, followed por mais giggling among themselves.
He payed them little mind at first, just attending to his own process of waking up, stretching here and there, groaning and moaning through the soreness.
He sat for a moment, taking his time, letting the world slowly filter in.
For the first time he had glanced at the girls for a moment, they were primping and cleaning their fur. He had almost forgotten about the Moonlight Howl later that very evening. It was a shame that he'd not get to indulge, he'd never been to a howl before. And it didn't look like he'd be joining in tonight either. He wrinkled his brow for a moment at the thought of "Stupid Duties".
Eight stood now, on sore paws and began a slow walk out of the antro, den entrance, past the primping girls. As he passed he smiled, as was his way and greeted them,
"Afternoon Ladies."
They each went silent, a couple looking his way as he half-limped out of sight. As he left the antro, den behind him, he heard, once again, further giggling from the group.
He wouldn't have the time to go and fraternize with anyone, or laze about tonight, it would only make him late for the nightly meeting before duty started, so instead, he took his time to the meeting spot.
He passed several small groups or couples of lobos today, the land was abuzz about the upcoming festivities for the evening. lobos were here or there, primping themselves and preparing, and why not? Tonight was THE night, after all! He wanted to check in on Zen and the others as well, but it would be far enough out of the way, even assuming that they'd not be tail deep in their own grooming rituals. He decided against it and continued on.
It took him no time to get to his destination, the usual spot.
He took up a place to sit, having even beaten Stern there on this day, Though he was always first to arrive.
Eight sat for a few moments, feeling a fluctuation between fatigue and waking up. His body was trying to make a transition between the two, or at least, trying to make a decision.
He sat in silence, to himself, eyes closed. There was a hush here, though around the edges of the mesa and rock you could hear distant echos of lobos talking and laughing. The clan was positively brimming with anticipation.
For a moment, the world just silently went on around him.
His eyes snapped open at the sound of approaching paws and he immediately took note that perhaps the world went on around him for longer than he thought. The sky grew darker than he remembered when his eyes closed. He looked around, the sun neared its way down, almost meeting its end at the horizon. It must have been time. Stern approached, this time with the other members in tow. He hadn't arrived early as he usually did, but Eight didn't pergunta it, he probably just had things to attend to, being such a big dia and all.
They all gathered near Eight, and he stood to greet them, though yawning quickly took over his priorities for a moment.
Each lobo stood now, the sun's light over the horizon was the only thing left of its rein today, casting across the sky as a fading glimpse of its former glory - though, no less beautiful.
Stern accounted for each wolf, looking to them; Ayame, Dolph and Shade, Stern's own right paw, Then along to Eight then the newcomer, Felan the Omega, even Peace made another presence.
"Okay then." Stern stated from the center of the small pack who circled around him, each standing at a height of attention.
It seemed they were ready to begin another night.
