YJ: The Difference Between
Prologue-
Artemis hated the rain. She hated it almost as much as she did her family. She hated it almost as she did her mom for using her to help the Shadows. She hated it almost as much as she hated batman for kicking her off the Team.
And she hated it as much as she hated having to kill her sister.
It hadn't been her choice really. She had replayed the confrontation over and over in her mind, but there was no way she couldn't have killed her sister.
Not without sacrificing Wally. And that was something she couldn't have done.
After the incident, the Dark Knight had kicked her off the Team. Only he, Wally and she knew what had happened that night.
Yet she still patrolled Gotham, long after the Dark Knight had retired.
Someone landed on the roof behind her and she recognized him immediately.
"Robin." she said bitterly.
"Hey, Art!" the figure said.
Artemis frowned at the voice.
"Not bad, Dick." she corrected, emphasizing the male's name.
"I prefer Nightwing now." he said, sitting seguinte to her in the rain.
Artemis glanced at his costume. It was a black form fitting suit with a blue bird on the front. His infamous Robin mask hadn't changed.
"Nightwing?" she asked.
"Yeah, didn't you get the memo? I've been going por that name for,oh, about a decade." the Dark Bird said.
"Well, Nightwing." Artemis said, shooting a line across the street. "See if you can keep up."
Artemis swung down into the street, her former teammate behind her.
Artemis had knocked the robber out por the time Nightwing arrived behind her.
"No fair. You've got a bow!" he said playfully.
"You've got millions of dollars at your disposal." Artemis said bitterly.
"Ouch." Nightwing flinched. "Why so grumpy?"
Artemis glared at him, shutting him up.
"I'm sure there is some evil villain I should go stop now." he said, backing up. "Nice seeing you though."
As soon as Nightwing was out of hearing range, Artemis mumbled something about the feeling not being mutual.
Nightwing was halfway back to his car when he dropped down in front of him.
He was wearing dark pants, boots, a zipped up leather jacket, and his most iconic piece of the uniform:
The Red Hood.
Nightwing's hand eased for his utility belt, but Red capuz, capa held up his hand.
"Relax," he said. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"And I should trust a murdering, criminal piece of scum like you because...?" Nightwing asked, hand not moving.
"I just want a friendly Robin to Robin talk." Red capuz, capa said, removing his jaqueta to reveal the iconic R on his chest.
