I stared into the mirror, internally groaning and cursing myself out. I really hated how I looked and right now was not helping in the slightest.
You see, I have dark brown hair, which tends to look really greasy easily. And me being the idiot I am, I fell asleep watching Netflix last night and forgot to wash my hair.
So here I was, glaring at myself in the mirror, trying to figure out what to do with this mess.
I sighed to myself, tugging my hoodie down over my leggings. I finally decided to just pull my hair up in a messy bun and blend in with the crowd as much as I possibly could. I walked over to my closet and picked up my backpack, staring at the picture of my mother.
My mom, Myta Herron, died giving birth to my younger brother Zach, which was when I was only three years old. Meaning I had very few memories of me and my mother, but I felt extremely bad for my little brother who never got the chance to meet my darling mother.
“Come on Jordyn! Millie will be here any minute!” I heard the yelling of my little brother from downstairs.
“I’m coming, Zach! Calm down!” I yelled back and grabbed my phone from my bed, walking downstairs to see my brother and father sitting at the dining room table.
“Morning, Jord!” My dad chirped, sitting with a cup of coffee in hand.
“Morning, Dad, what time does your shift end tonight?” I asked, giving him a quick hug, grabbing myself an apple.
“Should be done por 5, so I’ll be início about 5:15,” he replied, taking a sip from his mug.
“Alright,” I answered, biting into my apple, almost chocking on a piece from the beep of a car horn, “I’ll see you later on then, COME ON ZACH!” I yelled, beijar my dad’s forehead and heading towards the front door.
“Well good morning to you both!” Millie chirped, and started pulling out onto the road and driving us to school.
“What’s so good about mornings? We have to get up early and learn for like six or seven hours. It’s pointless.” Zach said as we both stared at him with wide eyes.
“Well, that was deep...” Millie said and I burst out laughing as Zach’s cheeks turned a slight red color.
After a few minuets we pulled up at hell, whoops I mean school.
I stepped into the building, ignoring the stares I got because I was wearing all black. Why do they have to do that? My gosh, it’s a good color.

I walked into the cafeteria, managing to survive my first periods was easy but lunch was dreaded. Millie was always following her little crush around or at dance practice, and well, Zach? I have no idea where that rodent is at lunch.
I scanned the cafeteria and found a practically empty table, the only person there was a boy around my age with his capuz, capa up. I’d never seen him before and the first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was his blue eyes, I’ve never seen anything mais beautiful in my life.
“Can I sit here?” I asked softly, trying not to scare him away from me.
He gulped and looked up at me nervously, giving a quick nod and looking at his lap.
I furrowed my eyebrows and sat down across from him. Pulling my nutella and banana sanduíche out of my bag and setting it down on the table. You see, I’m not what people call healthy and honestly I could live off of these sandwiches if I could.
I pulled my phone out of my backpack and sighed, unlocking it and going into my messages, where my dad had sent me a lovely message.
*Dad: Try to make some friends today! That girl still scares me!*
I laughed quietly to myself, dad had never been too keen on Millie ever since I brought her início from school one dia and we made a complete mess of the house. I blame her she’s evil.
I looked up at the blue eyed boy in front of me, he seemed friendly but also lonely. I got up and carefully sat seguinte to him. He looked up at me and gulped again before putting a baby carrot stick in his mouth.
I noticed he had one earphone in, Gosh, I hated it when people talked to me when I had earphones in. But he only had one in so I guess that’s okay?
“Hey, what’re you listening to?” I asked.
I got no answer.
“I know you can hear me,” I said again.
He bit his lip and started playing around with the hem of his hoodie, his body language showed off that he was scared and por him avoiding all eye contact I could tell her was scared of me. My eyes widened and I moved across from him again.
“What’re you listening to?” I asked again, softer this time, a hand carefully placed in front of me. He looked up at me and turned his phone screen to face me.
“Coldplay?” I grinned, I then realized that his eyes dropped down to his lap and I recognized the face he was making. He was scared I was gonna make fun of him.
“I like them too, they’re songs are pretty cool,” I said giving him a smile. “What’s your name?”
He shrugged in response.
“Shrug? Is that your name?” I joked.
He looked at me with a slight smile and shook his head no.
“I’ve never seen you around before, you new?” He nodded and looked back down at his lap.
“I get it, you don’t wanna talk to me.” I said getting up and grabbing my bag but be grabbed my arm and showed me his phone screen.
“Why are y-“ I was cut off por him turning his phone and running out of the cafeteria.
Aw c'mon, I thought to myself. What was he sorry for? Was he sorry for not speaking to me? Or was he sorry that I didn’t have any friends?
I sighed and took another bite out of my sandwich.

It was now sixth period, my last period of the day; English. I loved English with all of my heart, composição literária stories is what I do in my spare time.
I sat down in my assigned seat, my teacher decided to assento me in the back of the class. So I couldn’t be targeted por anyone in the other rows without her seeing. We were currently composição literária about what we wanted to do when we left school, crazy I know but this was my last ano at this dump.
Half way through the lesson the door opened and here revealed the blue eyed boy from lunch.
“Ahhh, you must be Mr. Besson, welcome to English! Please take any free assento you can find.” My teacher said quite cheerfully, he searched the room for a assento and looked kind of relieved when he saw the assento seguinte to me was empty. He gulped and walked over to the desk, tripping over his shoe renda, rendas, laço in the process but managing to catch himself on the desk, he looked at me with fear in his eyes and my coração ached for him as snickers filled the classroom. He eventually sat seguinte to me and his eyes wouldn’t leave his lap. I grabbed a hold of his hand and rubbed small circles on it.
“It’s alright, everyone here are jerks. You probably picked the worst school to transfer to, Besson,” I said using his last name, he looked up at me with watery eyes and my coração ached for him even mais as he gripped my hand tighter. “Trust me, okay? You’ll be fine.” I said giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
I had gone back to composição literária for about five minutos before the blue eyed boy poked my shoulder, I looked up confused as he motioned to his paper, which only had one word on the topo, início right hand corner.
was wrote in quite messy handwriting. I looked up at him and smiled.
“So, your name is Corbyn?” I asked and he shrugged at me, oh this boy.
“Well Corbyn, I’m Jordyn, nice to finally know your name,” I said laughing a little.
The sino had rung after a few minutos of me speaking to him, he shot me a nervous glance as he ran out of the classroom.
Is he scared of people?
