Idina Menzel’s New Year’s Eve performance of “Let It Go” met a frosty reception on social media. The singer behind the hit song from

performed in Times Square for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on Wednesday night, where she stumbled over a high note.

Unsurprisingly, many of those watching at home were quick to comment on the misstep on social media.

The critiques also quickly gave way to jokes about the cold bothering the singer’s voice (a twist on the “Let It Go” lyric “The cold never bothered me anyway”) and suggestions that Adele Dazeem had taken Menzel’s place (“Adele Dazeem” was how actor John Travolta mistakenly introduced Menzel at the Oscars in 2014).

They booked Idina Menzel, but got Adele Dazeem.

Of course, there were many fans who also took to Twitter to defend the singer, applauding her otherwise amazing performance. On Thursday night, Menzel herself tweeted about the performance with a quote she’d given in an interview previously:
