Season 2 was aired in a "rebroadcast" of Season 1. Instead of following the Anachronic Order of the first season, they opted to air it using the Chronological Order., squeezing the Season 2 episodes within the Season 1 timeline.

Endless Eight was not a typo. It's eight episodes of the same story, with different art. It's quite exhausting to watch. It's about a repeating summer.
The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya is a five-episode arc which covered the story of how they shot The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina, and of course, the problem that arose while they shot it.
Personally, I think the Sigh is the most interesting part for Season 2, because it showed character conflict. I hope this helps.
