What do you think about Stephenie's choice, for the men of the book?

She gave an interview (to Larry Carroll) and said whom she would like to see playing Ian, Kyle, Jeb and Jared.

"Larry Carroll had an interview with Stephenie Meyer the author of the twilight saga, and this time she talked about The Soul and The Seeker, books that will follow The Host; she also talked about the cast that came she thinks could play the part for Jeb, Ian, Kyle and Jared ; so this is what she said:

MTV: Do you plan on composição literária “Host” sequels?

Meyer: I hope. If I were to continue on with “The Host,” which is a possibility, there are characters and stories that could continue. … If I went ahead with that, it would be two more. … seguinte would be “The Soul,” and then “The Seeker.”

MTV: You’ve said that when you write, you cast actors in the roles in your head. Would you like to see a “Host” movie? Who are your dream stars?

Meyer: I would. … With “Twilight,” I felt the actors needed to be up-and-coming artists that haven’t been recognized yet. … With “The Host,” I think the actors could be really big names. That would be cool. I’d amor to see Robert Redford put on a beard and be Jeb; he would be amazing. … Matt Damon has some very Jared-esque qualities, and then [I'd amor to see] Casey Affleck as Ian and Ben Affleck as Kyle. Imagine the interplay."

So, what do you think about:
Casey Aflleck as Ian
Ben Affleck as Kyle
Matt Damon as Jared and
Robert Redford as Uncle Jeb?

Btw, I'm so against her. Specially about Matt Damon. Robert Redford is the best between those 4, but, still, not the right one.

I think Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are talented actors, but they are so far removed from my mental image of what the characters are like its... like you thought about the cast for The Host right after watching Good Will Hunting... like shopping when you're hungry...

I also saw an interview were she said she pictured James McAvoy as Ian, and althoughh I amor James McAvoy, I think he's a great actor, I can't see him playing that role

James McAvoy popped into my head after leitura the novel, but it was mais about the characters he has portrayed than his looks. I think he could pull off the sweetness and angst of Ian, but he definitely doesn't fit the physical description.

They are all entirely too old to look like the characters now. Plus with many of the roles they have had in recent years, I just couldn't imagine them playing the personalities of Jared, Ian, and Kyle.

I can picture Robert Redford as Uncle Jeb, but I'm not sure he could be as crazy as a fox... haha.

Yeah, it is odd especially since she is the author. But think about how many people on this fansite suggest actors/actresses who are way too old or barely fit the descrição of the characters. Sometimes you get a certain image stuck in your head and you can't be realistic... haha.

Yes, I like him, I could see him as Jared, though, he's a little too blond, but that can be fixed easily

Jeb - Kris Kristofferson (or alternately Sam Elliot)
Jared - Tom Welling (someone said the green Arqueiro from smallville, but he doesnt even fit Steph's descrição closely)

Kyle - Gerard Butler
Melanie/Wanderer - Summer Glau (and after she is re-inserted - Reese Witherspoon)

Hm ... I think you should change your Jared (Tom Welling) for your Ian (Steven Strait) is your and your Ian for your Jared, fits better the description. I agree with your Jeb, but Reese and Gerard are too old to play their roles, Jamie has to look like Melanie, because they are siblings, and your Melanie, in my opinion, isn't pretty enough.

I agree with ksteiner, Reese and Gerard are too old, however, I like Jake Gyllenhaal for Doc, I imagined him taller, but he could work :D

hmm, i think Summer is really pretty and could play the duel part rather well, kyle is Ians older brother, and much bigger than Ian, so to have Tom Welling play Ian would mean to find someone bigger that tome welling, who is rather large in case you havent watched smallville - as aventuras do superboy lately

Yes, he is really big I know it, but Stephenie made this image of him. I think Kyle may have 6.3 feet and Ian 6.2, is not a big difference and is easy to make a 6.0 feet seem to be a 6.3 (with boots and filming techniques) so... my choice for Kyle is James Marsden he is 6.1 and seems a lot like Tom. And Summer's pergunta is a pergunta of taste so I can't argue with you, but I can say that Jared is shorter than Ian, so Tom would be worse as Jared, than as Ian.

oh, when i say big, i mean mass, not height, tom is much larger mass wise than james marsden, maybe switching them tho . . . but toms atuação seems limited, i cant see him trying to kill a girl and having the atuação be believable. also the melanie/wanda character doesnt seem to be portrayed as gorgeous, and summer's atuação on serenity makes me feel that she would be excellent at playing the dual roles keeping the 2 individuals separate. and i will have to retract my reese statement, she is too old now i really embrulho, envoltório my brain around it. it nvr really says how much older Kyle is than ian, which is why i thought gerard would be a good take on kyle, plus i can see him trying to kill a girl and making it believable, at the same time being gentle with jodie. i try to think of the actors abilities as well when i am thinking about it is all.

I wouldn't mind if James interpret Ian and Tom interpret Kyle, but I don't believe they have such a big difference in mass. Anyway .. I think Tom could be a good Ian (and a good Kyle), he has that sweet face and at the same time he can seem really angry, I cannot explain, you have to see it. Summer is a good actress and yes, Melanie is pictured as a beautiful woman (They comment something about it in the book). I could see Gerard as Kyle as well, if he were younger, Stephenie said that Ian is 25 and Kyle is 30. Initially I thought Kyle and Ian were older than they really are. Kyle had 35 for me and Ian was 30, but I was wrong haha. I would like to see a bunch of actors to play these characters but they can not because they are too old, or too high, or too small. Whatever .. It's a bit disappointing and we have to accept it

I think Mel needs to be pretty since two handsome men fall in amor with her. Jared asks Ian if he loves her because of her beauty and he respostas yes.

But I saw Jensen Ackles playing Jared right off. Thanks to sobrenatural we know he can be charming, but has the tough side. Jared is lovable but is hardened. He is practical but loyal. Hello! We know Jensen can so pull this off! Plus, he is good looking. And it describes Jared as beautiful. Matt Damon is not "easy on the eyes" but doesnt come close.
