Sansa Stark Article: *ADWD Spoilers* Cersei's prophecy

I have noticed that a lot of people think that the prophecy of Cersei being defeated por a younger and beautiful queen and taking everything that she hold dear, are Daenerys ore Margaery. I on the other hand stand firmly behind that prophecy is about Sansa.

The Parallel between Sansa Stark and Cersei Lannister arc

Sansa and Cersei are not completely similar, no. But they are in the sense that Sansa shares, at the beginning of the series, many qualities with a young Cersei. We know from the text and from backstory from Jaime, that Cersei was a very idealistic young girl. She dreamed of being a queen, wanted to marry Rhaegar, and believed in the songs and stories. This is no different from Sansa who wanted to marry Joffrey upon seeing him. Sansa’s narrative runs parallel to Cersei’s. She too was a young girl who idealized the songs and stories of Westeros. She too fell in amor with a prince. The only thing Sansa Stark wanted at the beginning of the series is to marry Joffrey and become queen. And like Cersei, Sansa Stark finds herself losing that perfect bubbled world of charm and love. From her journey to King’s Landing, with the incident with Nymeria and then losing Lady, and then from there in King’s Landing to the death of her father, Sansa has her world torn apart and reshaped. Even after, she falls into marriages that show her the same that Cersei was treated to; and the constant abuse that she suffers from Joffrey and his Knights. She sees Westeros for what it is, understands the game that is being played here. She no longer believes in songs, or rather, she sees that you have to make your own song, your own story, por the actions you choose and the things you do.

Though they started quite the same, Sansa will never be like Cersei.

Cersei lost herself into the Game of Thrones. While I see Sansa being a natural politician, getting mais edgier as the learns the game from a true master I still believe Sansa will maintain the idealistic and purity of her character. This is why Sansa is the younger and beautiful queen. It is not all about appearance, but the beauty of their personality of not being greedy for power. Sansa is to humble for that.

Sansa took two things from Cersei she dearly loved:

Joffrey: Sansa is partly responsible for his death
Jaime: He sees Sansa being the key of regaining his honor so he joins with Brienne to seek her.

Plus this would be the right sense of karma and justice for Cersei. Wouldn't this be deliciously ironic that the girl that Cersei thought as weak and stupid will cause her demise.

It would be poetic.

ilovereading Yes, Sansa will probably be the younger queen. I can also see Daenerys as the one who will fulfill the prophecy. Not Margaery though, Cersei is so convinced it's her that it can't be her.

AngelGirl1992 Daenerys being part of this story line would be very unfair, since she already takes part in the other bigger story lines. Margaery would be to obvious (for Cersei at least). I extremely doubt that George RR Martin would invest so much time and space on Sansa's POV Chapters if he didn't meant to do something with her. Sansa's role will grow bigger in the upcoming two books. Since her story line has been about politics and court intrigue, and Little Finger teaching her how to play, it is very likely that Sansa will turn into a player, a dangerous one I may add. Sansa will first need to take down Little Finger, and she will especially if she figures out he was responsible to Nedd's death, face the obstacles to meddle with the other players. I am likely that Sansa will return to Winterfell and reclaim it, since she believes that all her family members are dead. Heil to the future queen in the north *bows*

SilverDoe29 Good theory and I agree with most of your points but just one question: how do you think Sansa will become queen *SPOILER* Littleffinger's plan requires Tyrion dead so Sansa can marry again and I really doubt that's going to happen. (P.S. I would probably throw a hissy fit and never read the book again if it does) So maybe someone would fake his death or something? These things happen a lot in this series...

AngelGirl1992 This is my theory that could happen even at least a couple of things: I don't think that Sansa will not marry Harry for the obvious reason that she is still married to Tyrion. Nor do I think Tyrion will think be killed because of Little Fingers schemes. I see Sansa likely turning against Petyr sooner ore later because of SweetRobin, who is being slowly poisoned. Annoying little brat that kid may be he is still Sansa's cousin and we know how protective Sansa is of family. She will protect him. Let's not forget Sansa did bring along her hairnet. Owh the sweet irony. When she defeats little finger Sansa will of course reveal her identity to the Vale, men who wanted to join Catelyn against the lannisters. It will not surprise me that Sansa will finish her desire to go home, with that I mean bringing back to his glory (I think her building up a small replica of Winterfell in the snow and the comment "I am stronger within the walls of Winterfell" is a foreshadowed of Sansa returning to winterfell and playing a big part to the rebuild of it). Though I do think that Sansa and Tyrion will clash in the future. He wants winterfell and Sansa will be motivated to reclaim it. Remember the prophecy of Sansa will slay a gaint and put his head on a spike on the walls of Winterfell, and I think it is Tyrion. I remember a mock response of Little Finger missing in a Clash of kings: " If Little Finger is dead I am a giant" and there is more references of him being a giant. Sansa and Tyrion will clash because of Winterfell. I am certain that Petyr and Tyrion will die because of Sansa Stark.

SilverDoe29 Oh okay then. I find it hard to believe G.R.R. Martin will kill Tyrion off, but then again, he IS G.R.R. Martin.

FlightofFantasy Awesome article. I agree, ever since I finished AFFC I have been convinced Sansa will win the Game of Thrones.

brodudely I don't think Sansa will ever been queen of Westeros. She'll become a master of the game and bring an end to Littlefinger. She'll more than likely return to Winterfell rebuild and rule as the Warden of the North. Jon Snow, aka Jon Targaryen son of Rhaegar Targayen and Lyanna Stark and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, will form the third head of the dragon alongside Dany and Aegon (Young Griff). Together they'll unite Westeros and repel the evil in the North. Like Aemon, Jon will shun the Iron Throne when asked to rule Westeros and return to his place in the Night's Watch as a protector of the realm. The queenship will fall to Dany.

AngelGirl1992 She doesn't have to be the queen of Westeros to be the queen who will take everything from Cersei. Most of Sansa fans, including me, want Sansa to be the Queen in the North. And that isn't that much far fetched. I don't think it is mere coincidence that Sansa was in the beginning of the series the farthest away of the spirit of the north, and how the series goes on her roots become more stronger and stronger and she is the one who craves for Winterfell the MOST of the Stark children. And with Rickon being raised as a wildling and Bran being beyond the wall it goes all in Favor to Sansa. Especially since Sansa has been put in the right position to claim her rightful place as Queen in the North and rebuild the Stark family how it once was and avenge her family. With how she has suffered under the hands of the Lannisters she really has more then enough motivation to do so.

harrypotterbest As for Tyrion, their marriage wasn't consummated, so according to pretty much everyone, it can be 'set aside'... I recall Lord Tywin telling this to Tyrion.

eka-chan Sansa has the same storyline as Elizabeth I. She will be Queen in the North, I fiercely believe that. And I certainly hope she and Tyrion will meet and something will blossom between them after their failed marriage. I'm a shipper so...besides, I think GRRM can explore this pairing again. They just need to grow more from their experiences.

shasoc I too think this will be true. I think that Sansa will marry Aegon and I somehow feel that Blackfish Tully will get involved in their story.
