Why do many motorcyclists wear jackets in the middle of summer and no geral, global during the summertime?

I've been noticing that for awhile now and at the same time was wondering why exactly do many of them wear jackets including leather jackets in the middle of a hot summer and no geral, global during the hot summertime. Aren't they going to get hot later on? Don't they start to feel hot wearing their jackets while riding their motorcycles/motorbikes in the middle of summer and no geral, global during the summertime?😕😐

I thiiiink it has something to do with protection from weather, the road if you fall at a slow enough speed... maybe even bugs and rocks.

Why they wear it even off the bike sometimes I have no idea

I would imagine the jaqueta acts as a wind breaker for being exposed to the wind at such high speeds on a motorbike, regardless of the season. Especially on the motorway or something, if your skin wasn't covered I'd imagine that would be uncomfortable.
