What exactly is karma?

"Everything that happens to us is the result of something we did".
That's karma.
Basically, is the result of actions or decisions we did in the past even if we don't remember them or considered them irrelevant.
That's why people say 'Karma's a bitch', because those decisions or actions get back to us.

I believe that was the original meaning from the Eastern religions that believe in reincarnation. Now a days people use it as a slang for every dia life. If you do something bad, something bad will happen to you in the future. (in this life) Or a popular phrase puts it as, "What goes around, comes around." Hope that helps.

Karma-the sanskrit word for "action".

It means if you do something bad in the present time, something bad will happen to you in the future, but you don't know what it is yet.

Karma means balance. Peace and balance in the universe. Every little good thing you do... every evil thing, it comes back at you, it bounces somehow. Not really the same thing, I mean if you kill someone, it don't have to die, but you're going to live the rest of your crappy life in jail. On the other hand, a good deed will bring you happiness, everything is directly proportional with what you do. So take care, karma is right behind you, ready to bite your bunda whenever it gets the chance :D.

What goes around comes around. In other words, you do or say something ignorant to someone, it'll all come back on you.

Example: If you slap someone across the face, guarantee you'll get slapped back
