Is it possible to get a medal on a spot you are not a fã of?

It was a aleatório pergunta that popped into my mind. I don't have one, but I was wondering it.

Actually I think they changed it so that you have to be a member of the spot to be able to get a medal. I remember a while back (a ano or 2 ago) you could get a medal and not be a member but it's been changed since then.

Edit: I remember I used to have a green medal for the link spot and it no longer shows so no, you can not get a medal.
