It's hard to say why PoM is being cancelled. Probably because of a viewership decrease, possibly because of the decrease in airings since Spring 2010, but I'm not going to guarantee anything.
It's safest to say that the ratings of the show implied that less people were interested in watching.

They're stuck on "Spongebob" and some of the "out with the old in with the new" crap that they are failing to see that we fanguins are still out there. We as a fandom need mais awareness and mais publicity. But being number 2, of course we try harder ("Charlie Brown" reference). But seriously, this fandom needs a LOT mais publicity and awareness irl as much as online.
