Nunavut is the largest, northernmost and least populated area in Canada. It was separated from the Northwest Territories on April 1st, 1999 thereby making it the newest territory in Canada. It comprises a huge portion of Northern Canada and several of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

Nunavut is basically the início of the indigenous people of Arctic Canada known as the Inuit. Its capital is Iqaluit which is located at the head of Frobisher baía on southern Baffin Island.
