Deathly hallows question: When Harry almost died at the end, was there anyone out there who hoped harry would die?

I'm with boolander25. When I first read it, I wasn't really thinking about what I WANTED to happen - I just wanted to see what did happen.

I expected Harry to die, I was surprised when she brought him back. I thought that bringing him back went with the no geral, global theme of the books; good conquers evil, amor is the strongest weapon.

But, deep down, I wanted him to die. Not only would it have been a huge shock that JK actually killed off Harry, but he annoyed me so much in the last book.

When I first read it, I didn't really think much about it because I just wanted to see how then end happened. But now, thinking back, I came to realize that all these "resurrections" were really stupid. I mean Harry just keeps getting saved for4 stupid reasons; it's all like "but I'm supposed to die." "No you're not, -blahblahblah- saved you." or whatever.
I think, in the end, BOTH Harry and Voldemort should've died, which would show strong character (for lack of a better word) for both the author and the story.

I'm sure you're not the only person.
I like Harry, sure sometimes he makes me facepalm, but I didn't want Voldemort to win. If they both would've died that would've been fine, but I like the book how it is now.
If he actually would've died, I bet alot of the people who wanted him to die would change their minds.
I am writting a fantasia story, 4 books, where my hero Lois dies to save a city. My friend who read the draft is devastated, she hasn't even read the part where Lois dies yet!

I want him dead, but then again, I've been trying to kill him the entire series so maybe I'm a bit biased.

I think at the time i wondered what would've happend if he did die, but i never actually wanted him too, because the epilouge bit was really sweet.

And, at the end of the day, i think the books are fantasia and kinda give hope to a lot of people that in the end, good DOES defeat evil, and i think if he'd died, then it would've just proved that all they'd been fighting for wasn't worth it.

I wanted him to die so bad. I mean I knew he wouldn't. Actually when I read the book I've already read the epilogue so I knew he hadn't died, and it's not as if I hate main characters but I didn't like harry that much. I was mais interested in Snape/Hermione/ron/Bella/tonks...
To me, Harry wss kind of the narrator of the story that shouldn't have survived XDD

No i didn't want him to die i was freaking out when i thought he was dead i'm so glad he didn't die

I did because i wished that Harry had been raised to be killed instead of having a happy ending. Ive never read a series that the main character dies in and i though that it would have been interesting to see how things would have changed compared to the other happier series.

i wasnt really focused on that, i was just excited that i was almost finished the book, it didnt really matter to me what happened

No. Don't you realise Harry had enough misery and misfortune in his life as it was? All because of Voldemort. He deserved to finally have some happiness, and not to have to worry about being killed all the time.

No, I was practically praying he'd survive! Which, now when I think about it, was stupid of me. No matter how much I prayed, if he died my praying wouldn't change that... Wow. Hahaha.

I was so certain that he would die, that I was willing to bet my life that he did. I did kind of want him to die, because that would be true strength of character. I was hoping Voldy would kill Harry and then Neville kill Voldy.

i guess harry potter has a typical ending the hero survives blah blah blah.. when the killing curse hit him in the forest i was like OMG very upset so i didnt want him to die so yeah im very boring for liking him not to die

I am one of those people who look at the end to see if the main character is still alive. I know it's stupid to do that but I always do that. I can't help it

I mean, while reading, I didn´t think much about how I wanted the story to go on. But after all, I´m very glad that Harry didn´t die and all his work, fear and pain and all the deaths of his friends weren´t for nothing.
por the way, I think Harry is a strong person ALTHOUGH he survived. It was very Valente of him just to want to die for his friends. When I read DH, I didn´t already know if he will win against Voldemort or not and I was so sad and had so much respect of Harry when he went into the forest to get killed. So it was a great surprise that he wasn´t dead and had the chance to fight against Voldemort a last time.
