Three cats paced up the Grassclan path. As their paws hit the dusty road, it was deathly silent. Too silent. In the middle was Fernpaw. The young apprentice's pelt was shining as she bounded about. She was still young, and had not a care in the world about what could happen. The other two were Cloudtail, the oldest warrior, and Fernpaw's mentor, Seasnake. The two warriors were getting slightly fed up of Fernpaw's trouble making.
"Fernpaw, please calm down!" snapped Seasnake. His ears were pricked up, listening for any signs of danger. He turned towards Fernpaw, but found himself looking into plain air.
Fernpaw was gone . . .
