I don't think she would be better off, mostly because she chose Edward of her own free will and he is what she wanted. What I do think is that they would still have been very happy together, just in a different sort of way. The thing is... Bella lost nothing when she chose Edward. She still got to have Charlie in her life, still got to have the lobos and she even got to have a child, a very special child. So, saying that she would have been better off... what is better than being happy with someone you amor and being surrounded por your family and friends? Honestly, it wouldn't have been better, just different.
