Kikio sat slumped on a large rock with her chin cradled in her palm. Her deep blue eyes were low and nearly lifeless, staring at the empty rua through the dim, laranja glow of the rua lights. Kikio glanced at the dark, starry sky, hoping to be able to guess what the possible time was, but she hadn't an idea. She knew her house, Ryoga's house, the Tendo house-- everyone was only a short distance away. But somehow she didn't have the strength to walk, nonetheless move.

Then I saw Cinderpelt and Brightheart come out of the medicine cat's den-Brightheart snarled at the intruder. I stared at the texugo as it stood in the hollow, scanning the area.
