Doctor Who's Companions Pergunta

What do you think of the show's new opening?

The new opening has Amy narrating how she joined the Doctor. It's almost like they are trying to put the companions on the same level as the Doctor. Now, I like Amy and Rory. As a "traditionalist", I still think of the companions as important to balance and complete the show. I'm not sure how I feel about them having equal focus put on them. Understand?

Before this season, Doctor Who would open with a brief scene and then go to the Tardis and theme music. In the new season, they have the brief scene, but before the theme music, you hear Amy. She tells about meeting the Doctor when she was a little girl. Then she met him later. He had a box that was bigger inside than the outside. One dia she ran away with him and they have been running ever since. Now that is not word for word. After that they show the tardis and play the theme music. I can see how it would help explain the show to a new viewer. But it seems like mais emphasis on a companion than the anterior seasons. Does that make mais sense?

Yes, thanks for explaining. I'll have to go and see if I can watch it so that I can answer your question. Thanks again!

I totally understand your point of view and I agree :) I've always loved the main focus being on The Doctor. In my opinion it will always be The Doctor as the most important, and then his companions. I'm not saying they aren't important, but the show is called Doctor Who. It's a little odd having the companions have such an important role, it kind of takes the focus away from The Doctor in my opinion.
