Well, she ends up with Rolfe in the second one, I agree to her being independent too but I put Smith and Rolfe on here because I was curious to which prince most people thought she would be paired to.

We know what you mean, but word choice still matters.

I think an easy fix would be to change "to" to "with."

"Who does she belong with" has MUCH better connotations than "who does she belong to?" I want to be considerate, but just reading that sentence makes the feminist and English major in me shudder. D':

The wording made me laugh cause I'm imaging Pocahontas as an object and Smith and Rolfe fighting over it. :P (I'm horrible. :P )

Anyways, I like Pocahontas with Smith better. The way I see it, Smith fall in love with her. whereas Rolfe didn't like Pocahontas until she looked English; wearing an English dress and having a whiter face. And the fact he replace her mother's necklace with an English one. >:(

Her and John Smith are better. Rolfe comes off as very uppity and non Pocahontas, and he took more interest in her when she was "England-ified".

I like Poca/Rolfe, more, but in reality, Pocahontas is a free spirit.

If you had worded it with to, I'd have picked John Smith. But she's also kinda independent, because I don't count sequels as canon (did you know that the people who made Pocahontas 2 didn't have access to the original?), and so she's single at the films end.
