It seems to be common knowledge that Damon is over Katherine, but a perfect example of Damon still caring about Katherine is 2x17 (Damon being visibly upset over the possibility of Katherine’s death).

Since we all know Damon knows better than to let Katherine know a weakness or wallow in whatever he might feel, what really makes Damon over Katherine? What makes Damon’s hard-found distance anything mais than an act?

The tomb scene? Well, yes — “Death would have been too kind” and all that jazz. However, when pushed, Damon has never killed Katherine, and I think that says a lot more...

A ship, to be romantic needs to be a lot of other things too:

MUTUAL, SELFLESS , REAL, PURE, EXTREME, EXCITING.

Damon/Katherine is all of this.

First of all the 1800 scenario helps a lot, along with Damon’s rebel soul, Katherine’s past and above all her vampire “situation”.

This won’t be pretty for Steferine shippers, but Stefan/Katherine has no bases to be a ralationship like DK

I've often wondered why Damon and Katherine are contested so greatly. I mean, it is without a doubt the most romantic amor story of the show. I wont go so far as to tell their story. We all know it por now. I'm no closer to coming up with an answer as to why everybody hates Datherine, but I have come up with an idea. Perhaps it can all be summed up in one word: Katherine.
