WHY do not people hate Vampire Diaries?

Well I don't know what "Bad messages" it's sending.
Elena
in the books the girl has character - She is queen bee and she knows it.at first she is a cadela, puta and slowly she understands that the world is not spinning around her.though the books you can see that she cares about her family and friends very deeply, from shadow souls "she could live without Bonnie and Meredith but it would be like living without her hands"
She stands up to Damon when he is doing bad things. she slaps him a couple times and yells at him when he can help, but won't.
She isn't okay with Damon when he kills people but, in the books Damon only killed the history teacher and that too with a reason.
She is scared when she finds out Stefan is a vampire.
and she never lets the boys make the decisions for her.
in the t.v series Elena's character is mais nice , she still puts her family and friends first and she has character.
Stefan
Stefan is a very boring character but he didn't watched her sleep and he never taken the engine out of her car and he truly loves Elena and is willing to let her walk away if it's best for her.
Damon
Damon ... such a complex character , at first he seems totally evil but he does what he does to hide the pain and to free the woman that he loved for 145 years .later he falls in amor with Elena but it isn't right away and their relationship is very complex . I can go on and on why I amor this character and give 110 reasons for the things he does ,not to mention that Ian who plays Damon is so hot and he can act.
About murder and blood Hello it's a VAMPIRE story / T.V show what did you expect ?
they are truly vampiros with fangs and their basic nature is to kill.
the show is also about the side characters
Bonnie mastering her witch powers
Caroline with her mom problems .
Jeremy and him becoming less emo and finding what to do in life.
Jenna's amor life with Alaric who gets over his wife who he thinks is dead but who turned into a vampire.
the plot is very good and each episode leaves you with wanting the seguinte episode to come out.
on the side note the actors are very nice and down to earth Who can act (and who look good)

I am sorry if a Hurt anyone but I really amor Vampire diaries.

Because Elena actually has a personality, unlike Bella.
The plot is very interesting, while Twilight is just written about nothing besides Edward, Bella, and on occasion, Jacob.
The guys are amazingly attractive (Damon *faints*) while Twilight guys are just...not. Edward... *barfs*. Jacob is ok looking, I'll give him that.
It focuses on the side characters as well. I amor Caroline, Tyler, Jeremy and Bonnie. Twilight just centers around Edward and Bella, nobody else.
The vampiros actually have fangs, burn in the sun (they have rings that protect them), actually have a weakness (vervain), and people can kill them with wooden stakes. And most of all, the DON'T SPARKLE. Damon actually makes fun of Twilight in the show.

It has a plot line that's actually followable, it has believable characters, and say what you want, but Elena does get in on the action and tries to kill vampiros herself.

Not to mention that the VD books were better written than the Twilight series.

EDIT: I just figured something out. Damon is trying to repent for his past violence. Elena is starting to forgive him. Is that not one of the Christian messages? To repent and forgive?

As someone who has not seen the series, could you please explain the way that it sends bad messages or promotes bad morals, etc? I will only be able to answer this pergunta if I understand what you are talking about.

Well, first of all, I'm a big Twilight hater and a big team Buffy-Stakes-Edward fan. And segundo of all, TVD is waaayyy better than Twilight.

Why I luv TVD? Because... ;
1- It has a plot and it makes sense.
2- It has logical characters.
3- The whole show and the actor/actresses are very good.
4- I dont like Elena anyway but I luv Stelena (Stefan&Elena) because they luv each other. And there's nothing to connect Elena and Bella. Bella is a jerkie but Elena is a smart girl. Trust me, if u watch the show u'll know what I mean.

I can write mais but I think it's enough to make u understand why I luv TVD and watch it.

A lot of people really hate the vampire diaries. It's just that we are way mais mature than arguing against a bunch of psychotic idiotic fãs who are obsessed with Ian Somerhalder. Besides why talk about hate when you could amor other awesome shows :P

Okay here's the deal. I started watching the show a few weeks atrás due to plain curiosity. Wanted to see if it was better than Twilight...and of course it is. Actually, almost movie is better lol. But here's the issues, they designed the show to have this cycle of good moments to be immediately followed por crazy ones and then something emotional. Honestly, would it kill the producers to let the views actually savor the good scenes for mais than a few seconds? And as far as the characters go...goddamn, does Matt ever not cry about something? Holy shit. Then there's the drama queen Jeremy. Could they have picked a worse dude to turn into a vampire hunter? wow. Now both Damon and Stephan were alright, but Damon had major insecurities about his relationship with Elena which got old pretty quick. If he had them only in the beginning of the relationship, fine...I get it...she just broke up with Stephan who is practically polar opposite of him, so yes he'll have his doubts. But dude, seriously. Okay so now I'm gonna skip way ahead to Kai. Honestly, I thought he sucked. Sure he was funny and had the kind of evil charisma needed for drama (like a sobrenatural Joker without the make up) but I thought the producers were trying to hard to let him end with a bang. Because of him, Elena died and now everyone is pissed. All the producers had to do was keep Kai in that hell forever, let Alaric get married, let Elena and Damon both become human and mover to their dream início to live happily ever after and everybody wins. The series could have ended at that. Way less depressing. If they do start it up again, I won't be watching. Screw them.

Why does it send out a bad message? To fall in amor with a serial killer is something that happens in real life.

Bella is not the same as Elena; sure, at first in the books, maybe. But she handles things much mais maturely, and she doesn't spend her time cooking and cleaning. Her grades are okay, and she goes out with her friends often. That makes her realistic.

Personally, I like the Vampire Diaries because it actually has a plot and real characters that we can relate to, and shows the concept of love/romance better than Twilight. And Damon, of course. I'm sorry if that seems shallow, but he is hot and badass.

I've never watched it, but I started leitura the first book - note started. I never got further than 5O pages or so, because I found the plot to be an exact replica of Twilight - which, since VD was written in the 8O's (I think), means SMeyer did some sirius copying. They're too similar to be coincidence.

I think it's because The Vampire Diaries is not as popular or as high perfil as Twilight and technically is not a successful TV series, it's only considered a hit because the CW is a small network with low standards when it comes to ratings. High perfil movies/shows tends to get mais critizem than lesser ones.

People hate Elena because her whole world revolves around her relationship with Edward. But Elena makes it clear that she refuses to allow herself to become obsessed. In the early episodes Stefan is ignoring her and VD makes a jab at Twilight when Elena says something along the "I'm not going to be one of those girls who lets her world stop over a guy." The opposite of Bella, Elena takes action and makes it clear she will be perfectly fine without a boyfriend.

because elena, as many have said prior to my comment, has a lot of character and is extremely selfless, whereas bella doesn't. She is extremely reluctant to mover to forks, and is selfish compared to elena (and all the other characters on tvd). When edward left her, she hid and became depressed, when stefan left elena, she continued to look for him whilst continuing with her life. Elena puts everyone else in front of her, and also tvd isn't as boring as twilight. Watching tvd after twilight made me realise just how boring it was, the plot hardly digressed from the main bella and edward and their issues, it just about brought in an obstacle: jacob and other vampires. But tvd, even thought it is a series, is much mais complex and focuses on so much mais than just the amor triangle. It focuses on the stories of other characters and their issues, and teaches people not to be so judgemental. Everyone on the show has their own issues and baggage, and it teaches us to realise this as well, rather than being oblivious all the time and thinking 'i'm the only one with problems, therefore i need sympathy'. The show also has some other good messages, such as selflessness and loyalty and respect and trust between elena and stefan, and bonnie and caroline. The only negative messages stem from damon, where he manipulated caroline and attacked bonnie and snapped jeremy's neck. But yeah, it's a vampire story and this will consequent in the death and worse themes.

Well, The Vampire Diaries is totally different. EG: Elena isn't ready to forget her family to run away with Stefan/Damon. She cares about her family and friends, doesn't want to be a vampire, Goes to school. People die in TVD. It's everyday life but with interesting stuff... E.T.C Twilight and TVD are Not even close to being same.

I'm not sure. I for one like Elena and can't compare her to Bella, Bella is just annoying. I also can't compare The Vampire Diaries. They are so different from each other. I'll admit that I didn't really like TVD when it first came to televisão but I amor it now. I think with all the criticism towards Twilight is that the vampiros sparkle when the sun hits them and that Bella just could not for the life of her choose between a native werewolf and a 100 ano old vampire, or how ever old he was, I can't remember. Then she finally thinks they are both of her soul mates, who on this earth has 2 soul mates? I know, it's teen fiction. Besides those two issues with the books that frustrate me, the other one is that it is so popular with the 12 ano olds, I admit, I was crazy about it when it first came out but now I just really hate it, I hate hearing about it, the filmes are complete crap and the books, sad to say really weren't that good, Stephanie Meyer is not that good and she is obviously prejudice towards homosexuality since nothing of it was mentioned in any books, it was all so cliched. Then with tvd, the girl's adoptive parents were dead, her biological parents were dead, her whole family died, her adoptive brother died like 5 or 6 times, she has a doppleganger, Katherine from the 1600's, she has 2 vampiros who are infatuated with her, who knew Katherine and she is partly why they were so infatuated with her. Basically what I am trying to say is that it's better than Twilight. And with Elena, there are people who don't like her, I'm not really sure why. I don't really pay attention to people criticizing tvd online. Anyways, that's my opinion.

I DO hate VD (pun intended), I watch only for the twists and because my ex forced ne too. But ALL the central characters are so hypocritical and ridiculous. Damon is a monster i don't care if he is "hot",Elena forgives him for ripping innocent people to shreds because the dull, moping ,sow is" in amor with him"... Despite killing her brother or going on a ripper binge with repugnant, loathsome Enzo. Is this enough of a reason, and why do he & Stephan get free passes for killing sprees because they turn off their humanity . Oh thats a great plea for innocence maybe we should all do that & then go kill a bunch of aleatório ppl, all who have friends ,may be in amor and unlike the douch brothers havent lived for centuries but like them DIDN'T want to die! Would that plea fly in court do you think? Aha but wait, I'm talking as if Damon would be arrested (who actually confessed to the bewilderingly hypocritical Sheriff Forbes to committing a murder, and she does nothing ,she couldn't cuff Alaric fast enough when he'd unknowingly killed two people,but the countless headless corpses Damon leaves are perfectly ok?Every time I see that ignorant cadela, puta in a police uniform I wanna slap her!If she had ANY morals she'd quit). I don't know what Vampire lore you people know, but I remember when vampiros were evil scary monsters and humans killed them as they are undead anyway... The humans were the heroes, whereas in this backwards show the humans are either stupid, or expendable cattle, or presented as uber-villains for trying to wipe out vamps (who are dangerous blood sucking, powerful, parasites... Wes had just cause to make vampiros feed on vanpires, taking people out of the comida chain) . I know us good looking bad boys are mais fun, but you seem to fancy murderers ladies....

I was a fã of VD.But I found people around me who considered VD is not good show and even didn't want to talk about it. I didn't understand, then I googled the reason online. Some said they see the real friendship between those girls. The family bonding. The relationship of true love. These are all what I see. I learnt from this show, even it is just a show.I truly got positive messages from it. Then also I browsed a bit the opposite comments, where focus on the violence, the hurting, the brutal inhuman behaviours that can cause negative impact on youth generation. I suddenly understand why my friends hate it.I started wondering why I have been watching for many seasons but didn't notice the negative parts. Because I believe that is very dramatic and unrealistic, which is way far away from real life. We definitely won't snap someone's neck or hurt people in that way. I suddenly understand that the messages received are positive or negative totally depending on audiences. I can almost get rid of those killing scenes but remember what I see about love, friendship, and family in this show where touches my heart. Maybe other people possibly imitate their behaviours. So.it is really controvercial...I deleted those shows I liked on FB that I think it used to benefit me, but not fit in my surronding environment. I don't want to bejudged.

If Ian Somerhalder wasn't so gorgeous I doubt most people would watch(women any way). I amor Ian and think he's gorgeous and sweet. I also admire the stunningly beautiful Kat Graham(SHE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL on that show!!!). I would amor to see her and Ian on a good show together playing amor interests. Surely they can do better than Vampire Diaries.

I used to amor this show soo much before Niña dobrev left, now I am really disappointed with it. First of all, I am a Stefan-Elena fã and hate how she has ended up with Damon. Secondly, they should have just ended it at season 6, but made a proper ending. It is ok now, but I don't enjoy it like I used to and I am hoping they will not make any other seasons after this one (unless nina dobrev returns). I hope Elena at least turns up for the finale (and the finale will be soon). The show is kind of dragging on too much now, with an unstable storyline. I'M REALLY UPSET THAT SUCH A GREAT SHOW HAS BEEN RUINED!!
