So the latest issue is that due to Ian and Nina's complete and utter incapability to act professional onset (Not my words - various articles') the writers are apparently seeing it fit to change the main couple around back to Stefan and Elena and avoid Damon/Elena scenes due to tension and fighting between Ian and Nina.
Now I don't know if this is true, unlikely due to tabloids' reputations for being complete nonsense but if so this is very upsetting and unfair of them. Posted over a year ago

Ian is the highest paid actor on the show, the writers know that the majority only watch for him, if he was permanently dead the writers have just the single stupidest thing anyone has ever done and they can't expect good anything from Season 6 and I trust that they know that.
