I dumped my bag on the couch, and ignored Megan's confused expression.
"What are you doing?" she inquired as I sat down seguinte to her.
"Don't worry, I asked my brother first," I replied. "I'm going to live here with you and Superboy."
She slid her hand on my shoulder. "If there's something you need to talk about..." she looked at my hand, where my promise ring was missing.
I was about to deny that, but the Mission alarm suddenly rang. We raced to the Mission Room, where the rest of the team awaited batman to tell us the mission.
To my surprise, Roy was there, looking worried.
batman looked emotionless. "Roy just filed a Missing Person report, but the police can't find Lian anywhere."
I clenched my fists. "And?" I pressed.
"You all know that Roy and Lian are the descendants of the criminal, Vandal Savage." A picture of a man with a black beard appeared on the screen.
"We theorize that he is the man who captured Lian. He wants to transfer the organs of his descendants so he could prolong his life, and who knows what he will do to the world."
"We're on it," Aqualad said. "We'll have to dividido, dividir up all around Gotham. Lian could be anywhere."
"Right!" they all raced at all the different exits.
batman looked at me solemnly. "If you can't handle the mission, you don't have to go--"
"Of course I could handle it," I muttered, flying away. "I'm the flipping Nightfury."
"Ma'am, have you seen this child anywhere?" I asked, showing her Lian's picture.
She shook her head. "Sorry, hon. Not a clue."
I sighed and flew off again, checking everywhere. My eyes suddenly caught on a familiar dark alley. I flew downward.
"This was the alley where I first met Lian," I told myself. A sudden gleam caught my eye, and I bent down. A rosa, -de-rosa bracelet was on the ground. I opened it, revealing a crumpled up note.
"My little Lian," I read. "This is Lian's bracelet!" I pressed my earpiece. "Team, I--No signal!"
I flew again, looking for any clues that might lead me to Lian's location. It was getting late, and all the shoppers started heading back to their houses. I shivered, even though I knew no one was going to hurt me.
I landed in front of restaurant and leaned against the glass window. "It'll take me a miracle to find Lian," I muttered.
I heard a tap from behind the glass window, and turned around. A chinese waiter looked at me annoyingly.
"Sorry," I apologized, then moved away from the window. I peered inside, remembering the red lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
Two people were sitting in a booth, laughing, and talking about aleatório things. The man had fiery red hair, and the woman had dark brown hair, like mine.
I pushed the entrance doors open and walked toward the booth. As I got closer, the image became mais clear. The couple were much older, probably in their fifties.
I noticed the gaping hole in the ceiling above them, where Cheshire had burst through just to kill me.
The memory of it stung me, slapping me so hard I was nearly stunned. I walked outside, not able to take it anymore.
"The mission," I panted. "Concentrate on the mission, Jen." I flew again, hitting myself whenever I thought of HIM.
I didn't know where I was going; I just kept flying. My mind was empty of all thoughts, and I couldn't see anything but white.
Suddenly, I heard a loud ringing in my ear.
My communicator! I pressed the earpiece. "Hello?"
"Jenny, where the heck are you?" KF demanded.
"We're supposed to be looking for Lian," I reminded.
"But batman called us in two HOURS ago!"
"What?" I flew to the ground. "I guess I just spaced out... in the air. Hello?" I lost the signal.
I looked around, and stared at what seemed to be the remains of a ghost town.
"Jenny!" called a shrill voice.
I spun around. "Lian?"
"What are you doing?" she inquired as I sat down seguinte to her.
