I did mean to get this up yesterday, but I had to make a jantar for eight with only 24 hours notice so I was a bit busy. Anyways, here it is!

Personal

How did you find Fanpop?

A couple years back I was looking up disney Princess pictures for my dad’s, current girlfriend’s, youngest daughter (mouthful right?). I happened to click on one that led me to the fanpop page for the princesses, and, after browsing the pictures, I decided to make an account for us. She lost interest easily (8-year-olds often do) but I didn’t and soon found the X-Men page. One of the best things I ever did.

Speaking of disney Princesses, this chick is a mutant.

Where are you from?

Northern California. Originally I lived in the baía Are but now I live much further up north. It’s nice having different seasons, but not when you get locked out of your house at night in -2 weather.

What schooling have you had?

Public school essentially. I went to a charter school for high school so that I could attend college at the same time. I ended up getting out of high school a semester early and por May I should have my AA degree. I’m hoping to transfer to UC Davis seguinte fall. I just have to mention that my current college may not be the best school but I do amor it in some ways. The people there are great.

What do you look like?

Well the first thing people usually notice is my extremely curly, brown hair. It’s a torment I tell you. I’m shorter than Paul Williams and have hazel eyes which are shrouded por my fairly thick eyebrows. My damn Portuguese genes I tell you. I’m not terribly thin. Hm this is hard to express through the written word. How much information is too much to the point of tedium and how much is too little to the point of vagueness? Pictures work much better.

What are your friends like?

My closest friend is probably my buddy Dallas who I’ve known for over ten years. I always find it funny that we get along considering we have nothing in common. She’s not a nerd at all unlike me. Classic films are one of my biggest passions and she can’t stand most of them. I dislike a lot of overly romantic things and she is just all over that shit. I don’t know how but it works. I’m also close to her siblings Jade and Ethan. They’re some of the siblings I never had. I’ve got some good friends up in Oregon. Originally, I was friends with the oldest daughter, Satarah, in elementary school but now I consider myself to also be a good friend of her brother, Josh, and generally enjoy spending time with her whole family. I’ve made a couple new friends at the college this ano including my English teacher of the past couple years. He’s also the film teacher so he’s one of the only people I can talk to about movies, and books, and such. This doesn't include my fanpop friends because if you want to see what they're like just go browse the comments.

What is your family like?

My relationship with my parents seems to be mais along the lines of their my buddies not my parents. It’s nice sometimes, but not so much when I have to take care of groceries for the mês because my mother’s gambling problem. They’re alright though I probably get along with my dad better. I have an older brother who I sometimes get along with and sometimes don’t. He has a bit of a temper and I don’t really agree with all his views so we butt heads sometimes. He and his long time girlfriend had a baby about two years back and I adore my little niece even if I’m not her favorite.

Interests

What are your favorito school subjects?

How do I choose?! I adore school. I wish I could afford to go to college forever and learn everything. Film is my favorito which is why I’m going to major in it for my bachelor’s degree (a decision I either amor or hate depending on the day). English is also great. Psychology has always fascinated me. I recently took a música class and man I wish my school had mais of them. Of course I think your favorito subjects are at least a little influenced por your teachers and I’ve had some great ones.

What are your favorito books/TV shows/movies?

Books: Watership Down, Dracula, Jane Eyre, If Chins Could Kill, Les Miserables

Films: West of Zanzibar, The Red Shoes, Pan’s Labyrinth, Grave of the Fireflies, Phantom of the Opera 1989, Phantom of the Paradise, The Penalty, Laugh Clown Laugh, Casablanca, The Man Who Laughs, Evil Dead 2, Repo: The Genetic Opera, Beauty and the Beast, La Belle et la Bete. I could just go on for days.

TV Shows: Doctor Who, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Twilight Zone, The Walking Dead, X-Men: TAS. I actually don’t watch many TV shows. I think this is because we haven’t had cable in my house for a couple years.

Musicals: Company, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, jesus Christ Superstar, Webber’s Phantom of the Opera (my biggest guilty pleasure).

What kind of música do you like?

I find myself listening to a lot of alternative rock and, obviously, a lot of musicais and movie scores. Recently been listening to mais Beethoven and have been trying to work in some stuff from the Romantic period and some stuff from the 60’s and 70’s.

What are your hobbies?

Well probably my biggest one is film. I spend a lot of time researching it and collecting them and such. I read though not as much as I used to. I sew a bit, bonecas and stuff mostly, and crochet a bit. Comics obviously. I play piano a teensy, tiny bit and am trying to get better. I like composição literária but don’t do it as often as I should. I also cook and bake quite a bit.

Who was your first favorite?

Wolverine. Yeah that’s how most people start and I’m shamefully dull in that sense.

Who do you hate?

Nate Grey annoys me. I’m really starting to hate Scarlet Witch and many other Avengers but they aren’t all X-related. None of these are a really intense hatred though, just a vague dislike.

Which X-Man inspires you most?

It’s cliched but Cable. There’s just something about how he’s always trying to do the right thing and how he’s so willing to slight himself in order to help others. Though I don’t do things like that to such an extreme degree, Nathan usually inspires me to try to help others mais than myself.

What is your favorito X-Uniform?

Probably a tie between Scarlet Witch and Dark Phoenix. They’re just so classic and elegant looking I can’t resist.

Which X-Man do you wish you were related to?

I think it’d be interesting to be part of the Lensherr family. Maybe not the greatest but man that’s some pedigree. It just seems like it would be fun to be the person who plans family reunions for them and forces everyone to play nice. I guess that can be said of the Summers/Greys too.

Which X-Man (or woman) would you most like to date?

Well there are plenty of good X-guys. My problem is just that my favoritos tend to be the snarky, fucked up ones which are entertaining to read but may not be the best dating material. I mean, I was heavily influenced por Beauty and the Beast and the whole “change him with your love” thing but it’s probably not the best idea outside of a story. I’ll have to get back to this after thinking about it for a week or so.

Which X-Man would you amor to hang out with?

Deadpool definitely. His pop culture obsession makes him terribly relatable to me and I just think you’d have a good time hanging out with him (as long as you don’t take the last cheesy puff). Much as I like Cable or Doctor Nemesis I’d be afraid that I’d seem stupid and inferior to them. That’s not really a problem you’d have with Wade.

Which X-Man do you most resemble (physically or mentally)?

Uh well physically maybe like Wanda or Magda. They are really the only two I can think of that are regularly shown with curly hair. Maybe a little like Aliya from Cable #25 because she isn’t drawn terribly chesty there. At least not when compared with Neena I mean holy fuck! Mentally well, much as I hate to admit it, Deadpool. Especially when I’m around my peers. I can be overly talkative, and half of the nonsense spewing from my mouth is silly movie references no one gets. Now I don’t have cancer and a cure for said cancer that fucked up my brain, but I do have a pineal cyst that may or may not cause seizures and may or may not kill me. Close enough right?

What is your favorito type of X-Man? [rebelling weapon (Wolverine, X-23), reformed villain (Magneto, Rogue), matured little girl (Kitty Pryde, Jublilee), etc.]

I like the time travelers obsessed with “saving” the future like Cable, Rachel, and Bishop. It’s actually kind of funny if you think about it. The Marvel universe is a multi-verse and even if you “fix” things, your shitty future still exists somewhere. Well I guess at least you saved some people from going through it.

Which X-Man has influenced you the most?

An obvious answer would be my favorite, Cable. I mean he has influenced how I think in some ways and I do try to think of him when I act selfish, or pissy, or what have you. I always admired Nightcrawler’s faith and I try to be like him in that regard. Hell a lot of X-Men have influenced me even if it’s only me going “don’t be like that douchbag.”

Which X-Man do you wish you resembled (physically or mentally)?

Even with her mascara running she's amazing looking!

Physically? Shit pretty much any of them. I mean even half the ones who are supposed to look ugly look gorgeous! I guess if I narrowed it down probably Scarlet Witch (I hate that she keeps showing up here but I amor the gypsy look), or maybe Rogue. I do amor her white streak. Jean can also be added to that list because of obvious reasons. Mentally I’d go with some of the mais stable X-Men like Rachel or Kitty. They both seem to have their shit together. Though I also wouldn’t mind being able to think like Doctor Nemesis. He mind be a bit of an bunda but he’s a genius dammit!

x-menobsessed26 That's the first thing I thought when I saw 'Frozen'! Elsa has to be a mutant. I guess it would make sense, Marvel being owned by Disney and all. Oh yeah, I know about those negative temperatures. Those evil negative numbers. I had the same problem with trying to describe myself. It's much easier to describe characters, especially when they're, like you pointed out, mostly all beautiful. Even their damn flaws are beautiful. Your friends sound extremely cool. Isn't it interesting how opposites seem to make the best friends at times? I wish I could say I got along with my parents that well, but it's awesome that you do. I guess not everyone can butt heads with their family everyday, right? ;) I never would have guessed that film was your major. What is the career you hope to begin with a degree in that, or maybe something else? You've got me curious. I'm sorry to say that my experience with classics is limited to my father's taste of Cary Grant and John Wayne, but it's something I've wanted to explore. Any recommendations for people just starting into the classics? I thought I was the only person who still liked Jesus Christ Superstar, so it's nice to "meet" someone else who does! I have to agree that the color scheme for Dark Phoenix's uniform is such a classic. No wonder it's used again and again when the Phoenix comes up. Probably a metaphor for something I don't feel like overthinking because it's past midnight and I'm watching 'The Breakfast Club'. I'm glad I'm not the only one who seems to get a kick out of the whole alternate universe thing, because it begs the question, why even save it in the first place if there's another alternate universe where Cyclops didn't decide to pick his nose at 2:44 p.m and it prevented the apocalypse?

Alycat4848 I think that's half the reason of why I liked Frozen so much is Elsa and her X-Men origin story. Also the music but mutants trumpet that. Funnily enough, I found out that my cousin's godson plays Prince Hans. Small world. I can't help but laugh when people from the Bay Area say it's cold when it's 60 out. My favorite example of comic book "ugly" was always Veil from Avengers Academy. She complains so much about how she looks, and she looks no different that all the other comic book women! Maybe the writers were trying to make some statement about how everyone thinks they're ugly when they're not, but couldn't she at least be average looking? Yeah my friends are an odd crew. I find it funny because I think in some ways Satarah and Dallas are more alike than me and Dallas, and yet they don't get along as well. Josh is one of the oddest I'd say, and he can get aggravating but usually he's good company. Just as long as you know the difference between witches, sorcerers, and warlocks. At least I think that second one was sorcerers. I'd better not ask lest I get a lecture. It seems most families have their good days and their bad days. Some days you just want to throttle them and others you enjoy them. Funnily enough, my brother was over just the other day and I almost killed him. It's hard to imagine at those times how you ever enjoying speaking to them, but you make it through. I never would've guessed film would be my major. I always swore I would never be an arts major and here I am. I had been planning to major in psychology and then go on to medical school but I wasn't truly happy with the choice. Then I started talking to my english teacher about film and I realized how much I loved it and how much effort I had already put into the subject so I decided that I would major in what I loved. I don't really know where I'll end up after school but I know I'd like to get a graduate's degree. I'd be happy teaching film or maybe writing about it or both. I don't think I have what it takes to make a film though but who knows. I'll tell you how it turns out in five or so years. What are you planning to major in? Does your school require you declare a major right away or do they give you some time to think about it? Well I think Casablanca is a good starting place if you like more drama and less action. I know I was engrossed when I first saw it. The Red Shoes is a good movie if you like ballet and so is An American in Paris or Singing in the Rain if you prefer something less dark. I think the darkest, most depressing movie I've seen is Grave of the Fireflies but it is so worth it! My big thing is silent movies but those are kind of hard to get into. The first one I saw was Phantom of the Opera and it took me a couple sittings. If you did want to see a silent drama I'd say go for The Man Who Laughs. That is the first silent movie that I sat through in one sitting and couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I actually think it's better than the book in some respects. See I told you I'd prattle on if given the chance. My friend Dallas could not believe I had seen and Liked Jesus Christ Superstar. She thought it was sacrilegious and had be told the lyrics were "Jesus Christ superstar, who the fuck do you think you are." I corrected her but haven't gotten her to watch it yet. She's very sensitive to that stuff. Maybe it's just me but that show was more engrossing and rewarding to me than The Passion of the Christ. My mother loved that movie and hated Jesus Christ Superstar. So glad I'm not the only Christian who likes it. Or maybe the artists are just lazy. "Ah shit another Phoenix story. Just color swap the old costume, no one will notice." Really, why is Marvel so fond of time travel when the universe they have set up makes it impossible to actually fix anything? It makes me think of that one My Little Pony episode when Twilight tries to warn herself about the future. Eventually Nate and Bishop are going to have these mid-life crisis that spiral into substance abuse when they realize their whole life may be pointess.

x-menobsessed26 Oh my God. Do they really? When it reaches 60 here, we break out the tank tops and flip flops! I guess it's better to do something you love and have no idea how it will affect you rather than major in something you hate and have it all mapped out. I actually have no idea what my major will be, but probably an English / History double major, unless my work load is picked up. We're not allowed to declare our majors until our sophomore year, so there's still time. Thank you for the list! I've actually seen Singing in the Rain (Inspired by Shatterstar, of course), and loved it. I can't wait to watch the rest of these. I guess it depends on if you like more straight fact or musical and performing art with your religion. My mom was a theater major, so I grew up with Jesus Christ Superstar and still love it. Passion of the Christ is...an acquired taste. One that I'm ashamed to say that I may not have fully developed. At my private school, I had a couple of people like your friend in my class, but to the extreme, and they FREAKED at the littlest things. I guess it's not hard to imagine not getting along with any of them, particularly when they refuse to sit on the same side of the room as someone reading a *gasp* demon book! (cough, Dracula, cough) It's getting to the point where it seems to be a running joke with the artists, which I would fully support since the storyline itself has become a joke. That episode is the perfect example of the redundancy of time travel. I mean, they even created the whole 'What If?...' series to combat that, creating a new universe with each issue!

Alycat4848 It's nice to know you've got some time to decide. I know a lot of people up here major in nursing because they think it will guarantee them a steady career. Nursing is a steady career, but does that matter if you hate going to work everyday? I don't know I'm probably over thinking it, but it does annoy me that people are choosing their major purely because of the money. Then they half-ass most of their classes and it's just obnoxious. Makes me hesitant to trust my life with some of these people. Another good movie that's on Netflix instant is Some Like it Hot. I first saw it in my film class and finally got to rematch it yesterday. Very funny. I think people should always for a little more interpretation in their religious art. If you're not trying to convince people it's absolute fact what's wrong with a little creative license? I never much cared for Passion of the Christ either. I haven't watched it in a while, but it never left a deep impression on me like other films have. The very music from it doesn't make me want to cry like, say, the music from Grave of the Fireflies. I made the mistake of mentioning The Omen to my friend the other day and the first words out of her mouth were "the movie is a gateway." Looks like I have to hide my copy when I move out with her. Maybe Phoenix is so lazy with her designs because she saw the designs Jean made for the original team. At least they have come up with one way to overcome the alternate universe effect. Of course if Doomlocks get over used they'll be just as tired as the time traveller plots in general. I wonder who has the Doomlocks now. I remember them being used in X-Factor a while back but I haven't seen them since then.

x-menobsessed26 Oh, I know. I come from a family of teachers and considered being one myself because I love working with younger children so much, but I can't get into the school of education at my university, nor would I want to anymore after sorting out my priorities. When I ask any of those people why they chose education, it's always "for the breaks" and other crap like they. They honestly believe that teaching is easy and it infuriates me, so I see where you're coming from. I've seen parts of Some Like It Hot in my Modern American History class in high school, and I realized I'm not a huge Marilyn Monroe fan, so I'm not sure how the whole movie would work out for me, but I'll try to give it a shot. Maybe the other actors would make up for it. Ooo, The Omen! That's a great flick! That's almost exactly what someone in my sister's class said to me when she found out I read about "the supernatural". It was hilarious and infuriating at the same time, almost like she was expecting me to cannibalize the cafeteria staff or something. Using a bit of a creative license in anything not only makes it easier to comprehend for some, but it can also help get others on board, you know? That almost reminds me of the Jesus tattoo commercial that was going around online causing a bunch of trouble in the Bible belt. Alycat4848 America's college system hasn't worked out all the kinks but it could be worse. Lazy students just piss me off. When I see someone half dozing through an interesting lecture I want to go Dark Phoenix on them. One girl in my last English class constantly complained about how boring the class was and how dull the instructor was and everything and I just loved that class! Sometimes people disappoint me but then I think of all the great people I've met at college and I calm down. Somewhat. I'm not a big Marilyn fan either especially with all her adoring "fans." She is terribly overhyped but she is funny in the movie. She's just so stupid. Really I watch it to see "Daphne" and her fiancé. Best characters in the film. I don't see how things like "Jesus Christ Superstar" are any worse than say Disney's "Pocahontas." That was a more offensive bastardization of history in my eyes at least. But nope we're going to hell for liking a little fiction in our Sunday school. Might as well go all out at this point. No I had not seen that commercial before. It's a little sappy for my taste but what can you expect from commercials wight his theme? I think it's a good way of sending the same message in a different format. That Jesus is much more approachable than say a Renaissance Jesus. The silly things that make people angry. Weed would explain so many X-Men costume choices. It looks like Namor's son was the last one to have it. I wonder what the story is behind that.

x-menobsessed26 Sometimes I think modern media makes it necessary for teachers to pull out a flamethrower and scream at the top of their lungs to be considered interesting by 90% of American youth today. Exactly! I think creativity is getting increasingly hard for people to understand. This would be a new marketing campaign for weed. Weed- the designer drug.
