My wide brown eyes glanced around the Bridgewell high school lunchbox and all I saw was the same thing as everyday. The "cool" group, my group, all sitting in the same spot. The middle of the lunchbox, drawing all attention on us with our screaming and giggling. It would usually be me starting the scenes but now I see differently. What’s the point with all the makeup, the new outfit each dia and the teasing of the smart kids. I don't want to be this girl anymore, I hate her.
Just at that moment Catherine and Amanda walk past. The smart kids, the ones who care what grades they get and now as I looked at them closely I noticed the confidence radiating off them, they didn’t care what people thought, they wanted to be them and that’s when I figured that the life I lead wasn’t right. Andy, my boyfriend, follows my gaze and spots them. A wide grin spread across his face. "Hey N-E-R-D-S! What math problem is on your schedule tonight?" he yelled making sure the whole lunchbox heard him. Laughter came from just our mesa, tabela and I realised how up-our-selves we are.
"Yo chickas" Josh yelled "have you looked in a mirror lately?" our mesa, tabela grew even louder and I was disgusted. Catherine and Amanda didn't even take a pause in their conversation; they kept their eye contact and kept on walking to the mesa, tabela in the far corner. I wanted their life, I thought.
I stood up, took one quick glance at the atmosphere around me and exited the lunchbox. Unsurprisingly everyone noticed and it all went quite. I didn't care; I didn't even turn back as I continued on my way to the bathroom.
The face staring back me was not one I recognised, just this morning I loved the reflection I made but now, it was hideous. What’s with all this makeup? Oh my how thick is it? Quickly I turned on the tap and splashed cold water over my face, washing all that off. My reflection this time seemed real. I cleaned my face now its time for the clothes. Eyes shut I slowly turned to the full length mirror beside me and opened my eyes to a sight that poured shame all through me. High heels, black tights, high waisted saia that was up far too high, and a grey singlet topo, início pulled down to far. Looking at myself I felt surprised that men hadn’t asked ‘how much?’ I know horrible thought but true, that’s how horrible I looked. Of course I looked great in the eyes of Andy and my group but what did the teachers think of me, what did my fellow students think when they saw me? I don't even want to think about that. Major make over was about to begin. Firstly I pulled the saia down so that when I bent over my rosa, -de-rosa roupa íntima, roupa interior were not in view, I pulled up my top, making sure my breasts didn’t fall out of my topo, início as I bent over. It was the best I could right then.
The sino sounded and it was time for fifth period. I exited, bracing myself. My friends aren’t going to be happy with me; I have absolutely broken the code. I took a deep breath and walked to my locker, taking my science and English books out and headed for the English building.
Wow I’m actually on time and sitting in the front row, all por myself! The teachers looking at me weird and so is every student in the room.
"Lauren?"
"Here Miss"
"Ashley?"
"Present"
"Rachel?"
oh my gosh that’s me, I can actually say 'here'.
"Here miss'
the role ended and my usual group were not here yet. Late like always.
"Today we are starting creative writing. You will draw a topic out of this container and write a three page story on your chosen topic" Miss Gunning informed us. One por one we all picked a topic and started. I got 'crime' and surprisingly I found that I really enjoyed it.
Half way though the lesson the door opens and the sound of high heels against tiles fill the room. As they entered I saw what I looked like for the, well segundo time, entering half way through the lesson and never doing what was required. I heard them stop and could feel five pairs of eyes on me. I didn't turn, I just ignored them and continued writing. I knew just at that moment that I had lost them, it didn't bother me much; they weren't even good friends.
Whispers filled my head, I could hear my name being said, and I could hear the silent laughs and the mean remarks. I cried. Now I knew what the girls, you are completely normal, go through. I feel so bad, words couldn’t explain. Tears start to form; I don't try to hold back I let them fall. It felt good. My eyes were red and my face was wet but I smiled and got passed it. Those kids aren’t going to hurt me because I made a choice.
"Alright kids the sino just went, I want these finished and handed in por tomorrow. Off you go, you five stay behind"
I got up and rushed to Catherine and Amanda. They welcomed me like I was a new, kid starting a school for the first time and that everything which happened last year, never happened.
It was a new day, the sun was hidden behind the clouds and rain battered the roof. But walking past that middle mesa, tabela and watching their stares as I passed with Catherine and Amanda made my day. A new life, a new journey had begun.
